My wife enjoyed her lunch at Akelarre on Friday, and she brought me there on Saturday. Holy cow, everything was fantastic - the service, the ambiance, and especially the meal. My wife ordered the fried calamari from the starter menu, and the goat cheese salad. I could not resist trying the calamari, which was as lightly coated and as gently fried as imaginable. And as a result it could not have been more tender or tasty. The goat cheese salad was also delicious, with super fresh greens, walnuts, warmed and browned goat cheese, and blueberry vinaigrette dressing. Meanwhile, I had two mouthwatering, delicately crispy calamari croquettes infused with calamari ink. As I told our server, they were the best croquettes I've had anywhere. Simply amazing. For my main course, I had local mussels steamed in white wine, butter, and parsley, and served with a half loaf of fresh, crusty Menorcan bread. The mussels were smallish, but oh so sweet and full of flavor, and the broth was out of this world delicious. For dessert, we shared a house-made Tiramisu, that (sorry for the redundancy) was the best I've had in Spain, maybe anywhere. It was clear for the start that both the hostess and server thoroughly enjoy and are passionate about their work. (We think they are the owners.) The result was impeccable service, which only made the great works from the kitchen even more enjoyable. We had a wonderful experience from start to finish, and we look forward to...

The cheeseboard was so wow. I loved the semi-curado Mahon cheese, it was super creamy and a little smoky. Apparently it’s a local favorite and a Mahon special, I’m so glad I have tried it. The next of my favorites on the cheeseboard is the sheep milk cheese—it tasted like a manchego tierno, which is one of my favorite kind of Spanish cheeses.
The caldo for the mussels is super delicious and amazing with bread.
My favorite was the grilled veggies with the romesco sauce, I asked for some bread and made a little tapas with the grilled peppers with romesco sauce on top. It was perfect.
Everything was amazing from service to environment and food. I highly recommend trying this place if you...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I got extremely bad food poisoning from this place - not sure if it was the alioli, or literally everything, as it was extremely greasy. I've had beef, she had squid, the food wasn't even mediocre. We've had potatoes and guacamolle for starters.
Do yourself a favor and avoid this place - if you're the owner and reading this, please change food supliers/implement safety protocols before someone ends up...
