we were on our first leg of our EU vacay starting at Madrid and we were headed out for our first Madrid Tapas dinner. unfortunately, the placed we went to was closed. we decided to just walk the streets and see if you could find an alternative. then, we accidentally bumped into Andres who works in this Tapas bar. Andres was on his way back to Dis Tinto Tab when we bumped into him at the street. He said they were open and guided our way a little further down the street. Man, we got so lucky! this place is a jackpot! we ordered the iberico platter, callos & Spanish sausage, buffalo cheese, the fresh steamed cod and a couple of things more - ok we were really hungry. Andres recommended the wine which was really good. Then the owner of the place brought the buffalo cheese in a ball form over a bed of arugula and halved cherry tomatoes. he cut it into quarters and handed me a new unopened olive oil bottle. he told me it’s the best they have. now i am not an expert in olive oils but we consume something like 3 liters a month for various cooking in the house. And i can tell you this o. oil that was handed to me to pour over the b. cheese is the best i have tasted - i could taste the oil of the olive leaves in it! i took a picture hoping i can come across it somewhere. the place is super cozy, a local’s hangout for sure but the owner and staff are so welcoming i have to give them a shout out! Muy Bien! Thanks Dis Tinto Taberna for giving us a great start! We...
Read moreI went to Dis Tinto Taberna with my wife for lunch between a couple of museum visits. Food was okay, but we left a museum tote bag with some souvenirs at our table. Two hours later, when we returned to grab it, it wasn't there. We have a photo of it at the table and a group still having lunch next table over (two hours later!) remembered us and confirmed that no one but staff went to the table before we got back. The staff claimed that they didn't see any items at the table and that they didn't have it. The interaction wasn't pleasant and my wife is devastated because we won't have the same experience at the museum again. I know that we won't get our souvenirs back, but I wish that the staff was kinder and more helpful during our attempt to...
Read moreFound this little gem near the Thyssen Bornemisza Museum while taking a breather from a day in the galleries. Wonderful tapas bar - very friendly staff who really made the visit memorable. The plates of food were also excellent. Not cheap, but certainly no complaints given the quality and flavour combinations. The gazpacho was stunning; the bacon ice cream and Parmesan shavings making it one of the most memorable dishes I've ever tasted. In fact I'd travel back to Madrid (from London) just to eat again. The red tuna tartar was excellent, as was the "Different Tomato" salad with avocado, papaya and pesto. This recently opened eatery is definitely...
