DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A REAL 5 STAR HOTEL. THIS HOTEL IS NOT 5 STARS, NOT EVEN CLOSE…… if you are looking for a 5 star hotel stay at the Mandarin Oriental, 3 min away.
I stayed at Villa Real for a week and had the worst “ 5 “ star hotel experience of my life. First of all let me start with sayin there is construction in front of the hotel, so taxis are not able to come through the main road as they normally do.. I did not know that… Not once did the hotel send an email beforehand giving instructions on how to get there or let me know there will be construction. It’s the first thing that woke me up in the morning every day. Please see video attached…
Once in the room my bathroom was dirty and the walls in the room are paper thin, please see video attached. I was never able to get good sleep, I went to the lobby downstairs on two separate occasions and they said they would take care of it and put me in another room but they never did…. you can hear everything the above guest is doing as well as the guest next door. I mean everything from the TV, to footsteps, closets being opened/shut, conversations and intimacy…
Pillows and bed are horrible, not what you would expect at a 5 star hotel….
They advertise they have a gym but it’s the smallest room with a couple of weights and a bench where only one person at a time could attempt to exercise….
Most of the staff was rude and looked like they didn’t want to be there… apart from the very first lady that checked me in, she was very nice.
If you are looking for a 5 star hotel don’t spend your money here and make a mistake like I did. Go across the street to the Mandarin or even the Westin… I’ve stayed at both and they are 10 times better than Villa Real… what a joke of a hotel. Owners should be sued for calling this a 5...

I booked Hotel Villa Real expecting a proper 5-star experience, but what I got was disgraceful. I was initially placed in a makeshift corner room that wasn’t even in a proper hallway — it felt like a utility or staff room. The bed was smaller than advertised, the mattress was cheap and uncomfortable, and the room was filled with plastic chairs, a dirty minibar, and worn furniture. It was completely misrepresented.
When we raised concerns, the staff said there were no other rooms available. But at 3AM, when they saw us heading to our car to possibly leave, they suddenly told us there had been a “cancellation” and offered a new room. That room was slightly larger but had the same old, tired feel. The entire experience was clearly dishonest — they had options but only acted when they realized we might walk out.
The bathroom was in poor condition, extremely small bath tub. We spent the entire night and next morning dealing with this, including hours on the phone with Agoda, instead of enjoying our trip. The stress completely ruined the start of our stay in Madrid.
In addition to all this AC doesn’t work, first night it didn’t work and I had to call several times after that they turned it on around 3.45 AM, second day today and I have called reception multiple times to say AC doesn’t work - you simply can’t control the AC in room - they turn it OFF and ON as they wish, I’m in room now hoping they will turn it on after multiple calls
This hotel is not 5-star by any measure — not in service, not in room quality, and certainly not in honesty. Avoid if you’re expecting comfort, professionalism, or what you...
Read moreThe worst 5-star hotel experience we've been to. The rooms are not sound-isolated at all - you could hear everything that was happening in the neighbouring rooms, hallway (you could here cleaning ladies working in the morning very well), outside the hotel (there was very loud party outside our hotel one night and it felt like we were at the party ourselves - impossible to sleep).
But what really put the final nail in the coffin was the fact we notified the reception staff we had huge amount of dust hanging just above our bed. They said they will sort that out asap. Next evening the dust was still there. We notified again - again we were told that all is going to be sorted out. You get the gist - it was not. So I escalated to speak to reception's team manager and only then they decided to clean. Sandra - the lady at reception - in particular even acknowledged that she remembered how we asked her the first time, but remained unapologetic...
The goodwill gesture was the bottle of 6.5eur brut that they decided to give us for "inconvenience" :) Hilarious. The hotel tries to boast with ancient Syrian antiques collection, but they are not a museum - they are a hotel, but definitely not the 5-star that they claim. They need to sort things out asap with core business and not venture into side...
