My wife discovered this place few years ago with her friend while i was away on a business trip. They came for a drink and a customer was a bit pushy but the bartender immediately interfered and ask him to back off. They felt safe and taken care off by the staff. Ever since we have come back there when we were in Madrid and they always recognize us even if we were gone for more than a year. This is the place we go pretty much daily before going to dinner when we are around. The bartenders, especially 3 of them, are very nice, attentive, very friendly and welcoming. Glasses of red wine are always served generously with free tapas. Price are great(2.5 eur per glass of wine with tapas). We feel like locals there and most customers are. The place is very busy before and after dinner time, especially during weekend. Best is a bit before 8pm.

Probably the most authentic experience we had bouncing around Spain. The atmosphere is chaotic in the best kind of way, the canapés/pinxtos were incredible and the wine was amazing. When we asked for our bill, they asked for our two empty wine glasses and filled them both up before we could leave… I really don’t want to ruin this place for the locals, but it was my most memorable outing in Madrid. 7 glasses of wine, two tintos, a bottle of sparkling water, a plate of olives and anchovies and all the food in the photos, which is dry aged tuna eggs, cured beef, pinxtos with various toppings… seventyseveneuros… amazing

Very small local restaurant with just a few tables. Lots of atmosphere. Intimate. Recommended for tapas by our hotel. We got the basically ham, salmon and cod on white breads tapas, one order each that we shared: Jamon (ham) de Pata, Salmon y Queso Fresco, Bacalao Aceite (cod) Oliva and Jamon Bellota. Be careful - Anchoa is Anchovies. It was funny. I was furiously looking up words in my Translator app. After we ordered, another English couple asked what we were having then the German group next to use pointed to our table to tell the waiter what they wanted.

Completely unprofessionals.

Overpriced dishes, in rush services with people pushing you to orders fast which brakes completely the vibe of the place.

Also, we have asked to split the bill and the owner pretended he didn’t hear and put the all bill in the first card we passed. It was not honest!! The owner clearly hided the price before I pass the card and after he turned the receipt down to not realize what he did. I turned back and asked why he did the opposite of what I asked and he smiled pretending he didn’t understand what I asked before , which was not true because is was actually in a pretty clear Spanish.

In a such amazing city as Madrid, you DEFINITELY need to avoid places like that! It was by far our worst experience in the city and didn’t worth one sigle euro spent in there.

Go to somewhere else please! Save your energy for other amazing bars and...

This is an old and traditional tabern just behind the Palace Hotel where you can experience a trully authentic atmosphere. The free tapa they serve with your wine or beer will be very simple but delicious. Try to get the chips, anchovy or pickled eggpant (berenjena). This is a favorite for locals and I guess not many tourists dare inside because you may find it literally surrounded by customers and really really packed inside. It may be a struggle to get your order but the few waiters (ther could be more, frankly) have fenomenal memory and level of energy. Quite an authentic experience you can tell when you return back home. ...
