Upon entering Los Gatos one first encounters the entrance room with the displays of the canapes/tapas and a couple of tables with tall chairs, suited mainly for standing.

So when we entered and found the room full with people we thought that's it, there is no available space. Fortunately, we went a bit further and decided to ask the waitress anyway, who showed us the way to the lovely basement with lots of tables and plenty of space. That was a close call!

Being new in Spain I wasn't very familiar with how a tapas restaurant work. I have to admit that I was overwhelmed when I first saw the prices in the menu thinking that these were the prices for the tapas. Silly me.

The very helpful and patient waitress, who also knew English, explained that these were the full portions and that if we wanted tapas we could choose what we like from the displays in the front and tell her to note them down for the order.

We tried different kinds of tapas: sardines, mushrooms, shrimps, goat cheese, salmon and every single one of them was fresh and delicious. The meal had a very reasonable price (35€ for 8 tapas two waters and a coke) and the servings were big enough to satiate two.

In summary a great place with high quality food, cozy and unique atmosphere and last but not least clean...

  • this is the first time I’m leaving a one star review. We are a limited Spanish speaking couple. But we have successfully got around Paris and Barcelona for 10 days without any problems. We are good at using our translators to communicate with people. At this restaurant, I ordered two beers (in my poor Spanish). Our server said in English that when he visited the US he spoke English.. from that moment we could tell our server was not interested in helping us. We were not being needy or demanding. We were using translator to get around the menu. Our server helped the table next to us (that had come after us), and then proceeded to take our menus too without taking our order. 😳😳 we sat there for another 10 minutes and he didn’t check on us. We sat there for 20 minutes. It was very clear that our server had no intention of helping us. If you are a tourist or you are a decent person and dislike xenophobes, avoid...

Visited here 16/11/2024 late evening. We'd had a filling lunch so really didn't want a lot to eat & had been recommended this establishment. We arrived & looked in & it was very crowded. We were just about to walk away but the waitress came to door & squeezed us inside & WOW, boy were we glad! We ordered tostas, crab with prawn, goats cheese with caramelized onion, sobrasada with manchego cheese & jamon with tuna along with excellent Marquis de Riscal white wine & vermouth. These were absolutely sublime & full of flavour & we agreed the best tapas of that type we had ever tasted. We may never go here again but it will live long in our memory, the food, the atmosphere & people who frequented there that evening. Huge thank to the waitress who served us & staff who...
