La Cantina Del Matadero — Restaurant in Madrid

Very nice place and surroundings but...very bad place to eat. 1st of all, when we arrived we were not welcome because we were "too many", (even though it was not a problem for us to be tighten to each other...). None of them could speak a minimum of english or an other langage and they were not willing to try even if we were trying our best to be understandable in spannish. Overall, none of the waiters were nice. Thirty minutes elapsed between the arrival of the first plate and the arrival of the last one. So we ate at the same table, but in shifts! We also asked for an extra ration of bread three times, to three different waiters, in English and Spanish, the bread was served to us after everyone had finished eating. Big prices for small portions. In the end when the bill arrived, there was a difference of amount of a hundred euros! We had to insist so they verify and admit...

El otro día, después de ver la exposición del Bosco, un grupo de 6 personas decidimos cenar en la Cantina. La verdad es que el sitio es muy bonito y el ambiente agradable pero sólo cenad ahí si queréis comer poco y gastaros mucho dinero. Para compartir el grupo pedimos el ceviche (20€), los buñuelos (14€) y la berenjena con queso (13€). El plato de ceviche, de 20 euros!! tenía el tamaño de un plato de postre. Tocamos literalmente a 3 trocitos de pescado por cabeza. El plato de buñuelos, de 14 euros!!, traía exactamente 6 buñuelos así que tocamos a 1 por cabeza. Y la berenjena (13 euros por 1 berenjena!!) era del tamaño de mi palma. Vamos, que nos quedamos con más hambre que los pavos del manolo y encima salimos a pagar 14 euros por persona. Un timo!! Ruego encarecidamente a la Cantina que revise la relacion precio- tamaño de las raciones porque, aunque lo que comimos estaba bueno, veo inconcebible salir a cenar, pagar 14€ y volverte con hambre a casa... Por otro lado la atención tampoco fue nada buena. Costaba mucho que te atendieran y parecía que te estaban haciendo un favor cada vez que venían a tu mesa. Está claro que pagas por el sitio, que está de moda, porque lo demás deja mucho que desear.

EDIT: Modifico mi comentario de cara a contestar al dueño, que tan 'amablemente' ha respondido a lo que comenté. Al decir que nos advirtió que eran platos y no raciones, creo que se está confundiendo de grupo ya que nosotros en ningún caso preguntamos a ningún camarero sobre lo que pedir. Elegimos lo que nos pareció bien y ordenamos la cena (voy a darle el beneficio de la duda y no pensar que se está inventando su respuesta sólo para quedar bien). Por otra parte, me parece muy bien que sean platos pero DE POSTRE!! aunque fueran para una única persona, te quedas con hambre sí o sí (a menos que tengas 8 años o menos) y encima con esos precios!!!. Me reitero en que lo que probamos estaba rico pero que no corresponde el precio con el tamaño de la ración, pues también. De cara a los ingredientes, exactamente, los buñuelos eran de verduras, que es una materia prima muy, muy barata. Si el plato consiste en 6 buñuelos de zanahoria del tamaño de una moneda de 2 euros, el margen de beneficio debe ser brutal. Por otro lado, en los muchos comentarios que tienen ustedes ya se advierte que la comida y el servicio dejan que desear. Así que si quieren mejorar la opinión de los clientes, háganlo una buena comida, buenos precio y buen servicio y no reprochando a lo que objetivamente se...

Useless as a restaurant, still good for drinks. I have been eating here for years, but I think that the owner changed and the new card is not only much more expensive now than before, but the quality and quantity of the food is much lower as well.(one dish was still frozen) Plus whoever is in charge, has only two poor girls waiting the complete terrace AND inside tables alone on a very busy Sunday evening. However, the atmosphere is great and will still go for drinks.
