Las Bóvedas de Cibeles — Restaurant in Madrid

Well, to be honest, the restaurant didn't meet our expectations at all. We wanted to give it a shot as the prices seemed to be OK, but we were fouled, and even the prices look high compared to what we were given.

First off, the bathrooms were disgusting like they hadn't been cleaned for ages! Seeing the state of the bathrooms, we could have already expected how it was going to be the quality of the food. We ordered two paellas ( one mixed and one with seafood) for my mom and I. Although they tasted good, we were never warned about their sizes... I mean, if we had ordered just one, it would have been more than enough. Because we didn't know how big they were, we ended up eating just half of each, and basically, one paella was wastage.

Secondly, my partner ordered a steak ohh boy it was so dry, overcooked, and chewy that my partner barely could eat half of it (struggling to be honest). Lucky her, she didn't break any tooth in the process. The chips that came with it weren't even properly fried. They were soggy and tasteless. We could tell the chips soacked all the oil

The ice of the cake: My mom's husband ordered a burger. He informed the waiter to have the burger without zuccini and onion, and the waiter seemed to care and write down the observation, Unfortunately for us, he didn't, he just told us ok ok but we ended up being given the burger with everything. We let the person who ran the food know about it, and he didn't even apologize... we could tell that he just brought it back to the kitchen and asked the "chef" to remove the unwanted items from the dish recently cooked. Well, the chef didn't do his job. We still had to remove some onions ourselves that were left stuck in the melted cheese. Beef patty was bland and tasteless... What a misfortune experience we had to live, we felt we completely wasted our...

Buenos días, esta reseña es negativa debido al trato recibido, algo que no suelo hacer, escribir reseñas negativas.

Ayer, 8/08/2023, fuimos mi pareja y yo a tomar una cerveza en la terraza de este local.

Nos sentamos en la terraza y le pedimos al camarero (que resultó ser el encargado de ese día) la carta para cervezas. Nos dijo que si no era para comer, no tenía carta, solo cervezas (mientras que las demás mesas tenían sangrías, tés, copas, etc).

Así que le preguntamos que cervezas tenía, nos decidimos por dos "Alhambras Dobles" las cuales nos trajo en un vaso doble de Mahou. Eso me chocó ya que Alhambra, en Madrid, se suele dar siempre en Tercio.

Al oler la cerveza olía y sabía a Mahou, pero no le di mucha importancia ya que nunca había probado Alhambra Doble.

Conforme íbamos bebiendo, mis sospechas aumentaban.

En un momento le pedí que nos sirviera una tapa, ya que viene incluido con una consumición de dos dobles, y de muy malas formas nos dijo que no, que eso se incluía con la consumición de dos dobles de Mahou, no de Alhambra. Le pregunté por qué y nos indicó que era una cuestión de Mahou, ya que eran quienes había hecho la propuesta.

Ni lo entendí, ni me cuadró, ya que no tenía sentido, pero bueno, no le di mayor importancia.

Pero las malas formas que en todo momento mostró me molestó y decidí comprobar si esos vasos contenían alhambra. Cabe decir que ni siquiera nos atendía en la mesa este caballero, ya que nos ignoraba por completo.

Así que le pregunté a otro camarero si nos podía servir una alambra doble en vaso, nos dijo que no. Ya que alhambra sólo tenían en tercio. Le pregunté de nuevo para confirmar que era así, y me volvió a indicar que sí, que alhambra, solo en tercio.

Así que llamé al encargado, el caballero que nos trató fatal y le indiqué lo me dijo su compañero.

Él me aseguró que era Alhambra, así que le pedí ir con el dentro para confirmar que era así, y le indiqué que si era Alhambra, yo le pediría disculpas.

Al llegar, había 8 grifos, 4 a un lado y 4 al otro, y cómo él mismo dijo "vaya", ninguna era Alhambra.

No puse una hoja de reclamación ya que me parecía innecesario pero la reseña se la lleva.

Cómo resumen:

-No nos quiso atender entregando la carta y tan sólo nos ofreció cerveza. -Nos entregó una cerveza tratando de timarnos ya que le pedimos una cosa y nos entregó otra. -No nos quiso servir la oferta que se ofertaba en la pizarra porque según él no cumplíamos las condiciones, que en verdad si porque nos estaba timando. -3 Le pillamos la mentira y ni siquiera se disculpó con nosotros sino que se rio y dijo "vaya, me has pillado macho".

Cabe decir que la reseña es porque no comprendo el por qué de el trato, en ningún momento fuimos mal educados, no fuimos prepotentes, no faltamos el respeto a nadie. Simplemente decidió tratarnos mal por alguna razón que desconocemos.

Cabe indicar que los demás camareros fueron muy educados, el problema lo tuvimos con el encargado, cuyo nombre no sé. Pero era un señor de entre 40 y 50 años, bajo, con pelo canoso y camisa azul. Por si algún superior lee ésta crítica y decide responder con el por qué de ese trato.

Pd: Si me contestan y me dan una explicación o simplemente una disculpa, subiré la puntuación a 3 estrellas ya que una mala experiencia individual no quiero que se refleje de forma tan contundente. Pero mientras,...

Oh. My. Gosh. If you’re in Madrid and you’re NOT going to this tapas spot, are you even doing Spain right?! This place is an absolute GEM. From the second we walked in, it was like being wrapped in a warm, garlic-scented hug from the tapas gods themselves.

We kicked things off with patatas bravas that were SO crispy and smothered in this spicy, smoky sauce that I swear was sent from heaven. Then came the jamón ibérico — I don’t know what kind of magical pigs they have here, but WOW. I could taste the passion in every bite.

And don’t even get me started on the sangria. It wasn’t just a drink — it was an experience. Fruity, chilled, dangerously drinkable. I could have had a pitcher all to myself (okay fine, I did).

The staff? Absolutely incredible. Warm, welcoming, and they made us feel like long-lost cousins coming home for dinner. The vibe? Authentic, cozy, and buzzing with local energy.

I’d fly back to Madrid just to eat here again. If I could give it six stars, I would. Actually, make it seven. This place SLAPS.
