I am Indian from Goa, but British born and raised.
I've tried countless Indian restaurants in Spain, hardly ever by my own choice but invariably dragged along by well-meaning Spanish friends who thinking that I will be impressed by the restaurant they take me too. And I've always, always, always been disappointed and irritated by the quality of the food served up.
And yesterday, again dragged along by my well-meaning Spanish friends, I steeled myself for the immense effort I would need to make to hide my anger and disappointment.
But Everest was different. The food was tasty, the service excellent and I ensured I finished absolutely everything left on the table when my companions gave up.
The lamb tandoori dish was the clear winner, but everything else was highly acceptable. Truly authentic? Of course not!! It's impossible to serve truly authentic Indian food in Spain because as soon as the unaccustomed Spaniard experiences any heat whatsoever, they react like babies to clown masks!! Like slugs to salt. Like fat bald men in 60 degree saunas!!!
That's not to say that they cannot quickly become accustomed to spicy food - as my Pamplonican girlfriend and her entire family have demonstrated, but the average punter draws the limit at patatas bravas. It is of course changing - just as it has in Britain.
I applaud Everest for the quality of its food, the friendly, helpful, efficient and rapid service and the overall experience.
It is the ONLY Indian restaurant I would ever return to after so many years in Spain, and probably soon at that.
It was no surprise therefore that the restaurant was absolutely packed and some tables had two or more seatings.
So book in advance to avoid disappointment.
If you're Spanish and have taken offence, please accept my apologies - it's the difference between the British sense of humour and the Spanish. No offence is intended.
Spain is by far and away the best country in the world - and I should know - I've lived in 9 of...

The vibe here is warm and unpretentious, staff greet you with genuine smiles and make you feel like part of the family. It’s casual but inviting, setting the stage for an unforgettable dive into Indian flavors.
Let’s start with a crowd favorite: the Chicken Tikka Masala. It’s a perfect introduction, balancing sweet and savory with just the right kick of Indian spices. The rich, creamy sauce is a decadent blend of 🥥coconut, 🥜nuts, and cream that elevates this classic to a whole new level. It’s comfort food at its finest.
Once you’ve whet your appetite, move on to the Lamb 🐑Bhuna. This dish is for those who love something hearty and robust. The Bhuna sauce is spiced to perfection and clings to tender chunks of lamb that practically melt in your mouth. Add the caramelized notes of 🧅onions, 🫑peppers, and 🫚ginger, and you’ve got a dish that feels both bold and satisfying.
For spice seekers, the Chicken 🐓Madras is a must-try. The heat is dialed up here, with a vibrant tomato base infused with garlic, 🧅onion, and 🫑peppers. It’s fiery without being overwhelming, offering a thrilling contrast to the creamier dishes.
Don’t forget to pair it all with a 🧀cheese naan, soft, pillowy, and just the right amount of cheesy. It’s the perfect companion for scooping up those rich sauces or enjoying on its own.
If you are up for a refreshing sweet dessert, the coconut and/or pistachio ice cream 🍦 will swipe up the hard spices, so it can relieve any excentric aftertaste of the dishes.
The best part? The price point feels like a steal given the quality and care poured into every dish. If you’re in the mood for Indian comfort food that delivers on flavor and authenticity, this spot should be high...
