Well, it seems at first to be quite interesting and nice, then it unfolds into something else.
We had a rsvp. Seated immediately. We noticed right away it smelled like a big Mac and pommes. Very strange.
Waitress finally came (dirty apron) and that food fast attitude of "I don't have time, what do you want, I'm not here for too many questions"...They didn't have a menu in English, not even a qr code. She said to use Google Translator 😅.
White eine Verdejo was delicious (we had 6 glasses). Then some potato squares with a hole in the middle filled with a mayo mix that was ok while hot. Later not so great.
Then came the Tuna Tataki: boring, not well executed, tuna too dry, topping not enough acid or salt and the nuts on top, were too big and therefore not necessary. We ordered salt and something spicy (we got Tabasco 😲). It was much better than before but Tabasco is not the answer. Salt was definitely an answer.
Then there was the BAO Crispy Crab sandwich: crispy crab and bread good but not enough umami and the flavor profile was very flat.
Then we ordered what we thought was going to be carrot cake. It " a very very deconstructed" dessert, came in what seemed to be a small plant pot. Okay first of all it fell all over the table while trying to find out what's under the "dirt" or cake. Then we found some white cream (not creamy, tangy, very sweet or carrot-cakey) then we thought "meh" what have we done. Then I was tired of the dry cake and unexciting cream and as I pushed the spoon further down: gush!! A flood of semi-clear liquid appeared and startled me. It was apparently some type of pineapple juice or something. No bueno!! It is was not great. It just made the rest of the dessert too wet and even more confusing. I couldn't eat it. My date mixed the remaining ingredients and after making a wet dirt (cake) mud of sorts, decided he didn't want to throw it away, so he finished it. Not with very much enthusiasm, I must add.
Overall: the place looked like a chain of sorts with a diverse but all over the place menu which somehow is not allowing the chef to really concentrate on fine-tuning.
The staff run around so fast and though some look quite well dressed, it didn't give me a relax and enjoy this "definitely not cheap but also not really well executed food" and wine, feeling. The wine was the best thing we had that day. Followed by the crispy soft shell crab bao.
I am not sure I would go again because it's too fast foody for me instead of good food fast. Which is what they seem to try to be in order to flip tables as quick as possible. The servers serve any table so you can get what you need, but it was very impersonal and not so friendly. Our waitress...
Read moreSuper cozy nice trendy gezellig place, perfect for large groups or for bday celebrations on a Sunday night, since the staff is top of the top and super helpful. I’ve also been there for breakfast and their variation is great for a very good price. Their menu is vast with really delicious options to delight your palate. We absolutely loved the tiradito de pez mantequilla, the steak tartar, the cheese table, the tuna tartar, uff the artichokes and of course a really cold Heineken beer to top it all. The wine was also good. The ambiance is young and gezellig, trendy people and relaxed, they have good music in the background and their decoration has taste and balance. Overall we had a great time and will for sure be back! Oh the metro Paco de Lucia is just 100m away. Very convenient!...
No hice ninguna llamada.
