Taberna Griega — Restaurant in Madrid

We came without reservation on Sunday evening. The place is big and wasn’t busy at all. We were 2 ppl and ordered in total 3 gin and tonics, 3 beers, plate with different dips, 3 pitas and a gyros plate. The portions are generous. For all that the total was 52€ so very good price for Madrid and such order. Surprisingly the plate with gyros was made of plastic. Pita and the dips were very tasty. Gyros was so so, the sauces served for it were tasteless, meat had those uncomfortable pieces like little piece of bone etc. The drinks were nice and fair price. Unfortunately the service was not nice. Waiters were rushing us a lot even if the restaurant was almost empty. They seemed to be not in the mood, not welcoming at all. I didn’t see any of them...

Best Greek restaurant in Madrid. Real Greek food. The staff speak Greek! They have quality Greek food and good Greek beer and wine (see Kanenas in the photo…..order this wine if you go there….it’s great!!! Not too pricey so you can have a really good meal and not worry to much about the bill. Not central Madrid, but within the M30 and easily accessible from Menéndez Pelayo or Pacifico metro stations. Carta muy variada y deliciosa 😋 con esmero por lo tradicional y una buena representación de las ensaladas, entrantes quesos, platos principales y postres más significativos de la Grecia rural. Todo servido con pan de Pita y vinos griegos (muy recomendable el retsina de la casa). El servicio es tan profesional como amable. El local está amueblado, decorado y hasta estampado con paisajes y monumentos griegos. Todo ello lo hace muy acogedor y hasta crea la ilusión de estar en una remota isla del Egeo o en una aldea montañesa de la Grecia profunda. Estuve en una cena de grupo multitudinaria (más de 50 comensales) con discursos incluidos. Y resultó ideal, tanto para la actividad asociativa como en el rápido y muy eficaz atención en cocina y servicio (habíamos elegido cada menú personal con días de antelación). Lo único que eché de menos es que el hilo musical no fuese de música griega tradicional. Un buen repertorio de rebetiké haría honor al nombre del restaurante y lo ambientaria aún más. Salí muy satisfecho de la deliciosa cena y atención rápida a imprevistos. Y no sé si por ser grupo numeroso o por que es habitual me pareció una insuperable relación calidad/precio. Volveré muchas más veces, en solitario, en 👫 y, por supuesto, en grupo. Además, sé nos informó que hay menú del día, muy asequible...
