Nestled in the heart of Marbella, a culinary gem has emerged, captivating the palates of locals and visitors alike since its opening four months ago. This restaurant, under the meticulous guidance of a Peruvian chef renowned for his disciplined approach and immaculate presentation, offers an exquisite fusion of flavors that promises to elevate it to Michelin star status.
My recent visit for their exclusive Valentine’s menu was nothing short of extraordinary. The evening commenced with a welcome bubbly drink, setting a celebratory tone for the gastronomic journey ahead.
Oyster in Hibiscus Ponzu The first course featured a fresh oyster bathed in a delicate hibiscus ponzu sauce, harmoniously blending briny and floral notes. This was expertly paired with the ‘Flirty Fit’ cocktail—a seductive blend of sparkling wine and rose water syrup, accentuated by the subtle heat of Jamaican black pepper.
Scallop and Maracuja Ceviche Next, the scallop and maracuja ceviche offered a vibrant medley of textures and flavors. The sweetness of the scallops melded seamlessly with the tartness of passion fruit. Accompanying this dish was the ‘Kiss Me Quick’ cocktail, a daring concoction of tequila and mezcal, infused with hibiscus syrup and a spicy chili kick, enhancing the ceviche’s zest.
Mackerel with Bergamot The mackerel, infused with aromatic bergamot, was a testament to the chef’s innovative flair. Its rich, oily character was perfectly balanced by the citrusy undertones, and paired with the Josep Llorens Els Nanos 2023 wine, it elevated the dish’s complexity.
Glazed Duck with Hoisin The main course presented a succulent glazed duck adorned with a luscious hoisin glaze. The tender meat, rich in flavor, was complemented by the Finca Nueva Crianza 2019, a wine whose depth and subtle tannins enhanced the dish’s savory profile.
Amazonian Chocolate Concluding the meal was the Amazonian chocolate dessert—a decadent creation that encapsulated the essence of Peruvian cacao. Paired with the ‘Sweet Sin’ cocktail—an irresistible blend of vodka infused with orange, black Dutch chocolate, coffee, and vanilla—it provided a harmonious and indulgent finale to the evening.
This dining experience not only highlights the chef’s Peruvian heritage but also showcases a commitment to culinary excellence that is poised to earn Michelin recognition. For those seeking an unforgettable gastronomic adventure in Marbella, this establishment is an absolute must-visit.

Read moreTried the Sunday brunch and really enjoyed it, the space is small but focused on the essentials and the savoury dishes were excellent. Waffles and pancakes were less impressive, but overall the food was good quality. Our waitress was very friendly, smiling and attentive, always making sure we had everything we needed, which made a big difference. We didn’t have a reservation and were lucky to get a table.
The only downside was inconsistency in service. At one point our table was crowded with glasses and we asked a man who seemed to be part of the management if someone could help clear it. He stayed very polite and smiled, but it felt as if our request had slightly offended him. In the end, no one came to clear the table, which gave the impression he was not comfortable being asked that. For a small table during brunch, clearing makes a big difference when trying to enjoy several dishes. The next day we tried the fountain location, which is just one level down in the Forum as well. Breakfast had stopped only five minutes earlier, but the menu was taken away firmly, which felt a bit inflexible for a holiday setting. The strawberry tart was good.
Another tip, for brunch there was valet service which was very convenient. The following day the valet was full, so we had to park in the “Garden Parking”. It is a gravel slope and a short three minute walk, but definitely not ideal if you are wearing nice shoes. Trainers are the way to go.
Overall, Bistro Planta is worth visiting, especially for the Sunday brunch with tasty savoury options and friendly service, but it would be even better with more consistent clearing and a bit more...
Read moreMy friend and I visited this bistro today for their Sunday breakfast buffet, and overall, we had a really great experience. Every Sunday, they offer a buffet, but you can also order à la carte if you prefer. We decided to go with the buffet because the selection was quite good. The price is €45 per person, and it includes an egg dish of your choice. I had the Eggs Benedict, and my friend chose scrambled eggs. She also ordered a latte macchiato, and we both had two freshly squeezed orange juices, which were charged extra. Altogether, we spent €107.
The place is definitely worth recommending. The food was excellent with a good variety — plenty of fruits, vegetables, and vegetarian options. I did notice there was hardly any cured ham or similar meats, but that was fine. The staff were very friendly, and everything was served quickly and without any hassle.
The only downside was the music. They were playing loud music through a soundbar, and at the same time, there was a saxophonist performing live. It was just a bit too much, and it made it hard to have a conversation because the room was quite loud.
Overall though, I can truly recommend this place to everyone. It’s suitable for all ages, there’s something for everyone, and the food was absolutely delicious. I would definitely...
