HongKong Sofia — Restaurant in Mijas

We genuinely enjoyed the company of the owner, Sophia, who was both humorous and welcoming, making us feel as though we were invited into her home for the evening. The ambiance and decor of the restaurant is more aesthetically pleasing compared to other local Chinese establishments and provides nice surroundings in an unrushed environment.

Despite the fact that the food is prepared to order in a clean and visible kitchen, each course took an exceptionally long time to be served, despite the restaurant being relatively empty.

The food served was generally mediocre, it is also the priciest in the vicinity offering the least value for money, with the exception of the 'set menu'.

The Chicken & crispy noodle soup, although flavourful, was served in a bowl that was far too small to justify its cost & without any hint of crispy noodles. The crispy seaweed with shredded scallops was very underwhelming & lacked any substance or flavour, both disappointing starters lacking value for money.

The mains of chicken in black bean & the chicken in ginger were both very nice dishes, the chicken was beautifully tender on both plates. Regrettably, the accompanying 'chicken noodles' lacked any chicken 'at all' and were rather bland, devoid of any usual ingredients aside from a few small slithers of onion. Austerity measures are certainly the 'house special' here.

If we were to return, we will opt for the 'Set Menu' or 'Lunchtime Special' and refrain from making the costly error of ordering from the 'main menu' in the future. It significantly increased our bill in comparison to recent experiences at nearby competitors where we felt that the food atleast offered far better value for money with  better starter &...

Worst food yet the rice has no flavour and the chicken is dry and it tasted like the chicken was used a week before and just heated up the prices are too high for the sad excuse of food they give you never going to go there again you can hardly understand them DO NOT GO trust me you can get better service and food from the other restaurants round there I do not know how this has 4 stars as it is really bad(I'm pretty sure the chicken has given me...

Early in season so pretty quiet but always enjoy a visit to this restaurant. Owner is so friendly and chatty. Makes an effort to introduce herself to all the guests to check everything ok. An extensive menu and knowledge staff. We always get the set menu so you get a good choice - and the food just keeps coming in good portions too. Very reasonable night out in La Cala...
