The Big Fish — Restaurant in Mijas

I ordered a large cod & and chips, which was nicely cooked and of a reasonable portion size. The batter tasted bland though & the chips were dry. It was OK but not great, I also felt that €2+ for sides such as mushy peas a little steep, and although I sat in, I thought the €0.50c fee to takeaway is unreasonable. I wouldn't of considered the meal good value for money. The staff are pleasant & keep a clean premises, but I wouldn't recommend to friends for a 'must go out of the way for' chippy based on the food. We had really high hopes for dinner here due to loads of good reviews online, unfortunately the fishcakes I ordered were served frozen in the centre so likely not "homemade" as stated on the menu. The staff did not apologise for this. I was given another meal after letting staff know, but was still charged for the inedible fishcakes. Seriously, hands down the best fish n chips, with a bottle red vino I have ever had. The batter on the generous fish portion was crisp and tasty, staying crunchy to the last bite. The chips were fresh, hot, light, fluffy and filling. Mint mushy peas, washed down with a decent plonk. The reasonable bill was a pleasure to pay!
