La Estancia - Steak House — Restaurant in Mijas

We had booked in advance as we were staying over an hours walk away along the beach walkway and didnt want a wasted walk. We were greeted and shown to a table. They advertised "live music" but this consisted of a man singing to a track played via ipad, had a bit of a cheap casio keyboard sound to the tracks and when it wasn't "live" the music it did become too loud but someone must've complained as it was turned back down by staff. Our drinks order was taken quickly followed by our food order. The steak and skewer were both cooked as per our order and were both very good. The side veg and baked potato were enjoyable. A nice touch was the flaky sea salt so you could adjust the seasoning, which i liked. Despite waiting almost 20 minutes we were never offered a dessert menu and got bored waiting so we checked the menu ourselves online and having not seen anything we fancied we finished our drinks and got the bill. Service was a bit let down in that regard. I would contemplate going again for the food as it was good. If I could leave zero stars I would... We went along last night, we had no booking, but they kindly gave us a table for 5. We sat and waited, eventually i had to ask the waiters to take our drink order(TWICE) , then I had to ask to take our food order, one and a half hours later we still had no food, apart from olives. People who came in after us had been served, after one and a half hours I called the waiter and asked him for the bill for the wine, he then proceeded to say there was a problem with the electricity,,,,,,, and the lights flickered, (coincidentally) 🙄As I said to him "no one had the manners to come out and tell us there would be a delay" he gave us the wine on the house, by the time we left the hunger had gone. So basically I have no idea what the food is like, I have never seen service like this before, I am shocked that not one member of staff came to us to explain that there would be a delay, I think I would still be sitting there only I called him to say we were leaving after ONE AND HALF HOURS....... SHOCKING SERVICE.... CANNOT RATE THE FOOD... BUT OLIVES WERE...

Zero stars is more accurate. The worst night I have had on the coast. I will never return, awful service created a night that terrible.

The following comments were made on a quiet Tuesday not a busy Saturday (from someone who works in the trade i understand pressure)

Firstly, a drink had to be changed because of a mistake in the bar and this took over 15 minutes.

Secondly, our steak came out far too over cooked and when it was changed they still tried to charge us for chips and sauce we did not recieve!

Thirdly, in the meantime I had ordered a bottle of wine 3 times and 20 minutes before it was received.

When there was a discussion regarding the bill, it was not considered that along with the Tomahawk steak, it is included that sides be provided and they did not see the issue when they werent and we were still charged full price for a substandard meal.

I was offered a free bottle of wine with my "next meal" but it is a sore consolation for someone whose party may not even choose to drink next time and who is returning to...
