UTOPIA — Restaurant in Mijas

A hidden gem

We have been going to Utopia since 2017, and we have always enjoyed the food (assuming you can get in!).

You need to book a table, specially at the weekend.

Their nachos are unbelievable, and frankly big enough to be a main course (or shared by at least couple of people!).

Their Tuna salad is fantastic, but very filling.

Their burgers just blow out anything fast food chains can deliver out of the water. This is what burgers are meant to be.

They offer various meat in a bun, including pulled pork and beef. Whichever one you choose, make sure you go for a walk afterwards. You will need it!!

Specially thankful to them for making space for us on Easter Sunday, when another restaurant messed up our booking for lunch, and Utopia squeezed six of us in, despite being rushed off their feet.

Don't judge a book by its cover, as the outside looks like a bar and not particularly inviting, but go in and try the food and sit in...

Thought to try Utopia as most other bars closed being Tuesday which is a common rest day. Nice surroundings and music upon entry. Ordered a pint and a tubo (half) of Cruzcampo. Asked for the bill and bar tender took my money which was in front of me instead of giving me a bill to check first. Charged 3.5 for the pint and 2.5 for the tubo, the average in the area being 2.5 and 1.5 respectively. Queried the cost of the tubo which is on the price list as 1.80 to bar tender when owner took over saying that we had a large tubo which I have never heard of before and was not asked for. Became a bit of an issue so we left with...

Visited this restaurant during our recent family stay in La Cala and after being here a number of times in the past. The food on this occasion was not to the past standards or quantity, which has massively taken away from our experience. On top of these issues the cost has also gone up (obviously due to the times!), but putting these things together the meals we had on this occasion were not good value or to past quality. Unless this improves we will have to dine in one of the other many restaurants...
