Went to By Rocio Bar Gastronómico in Patalavaca for lunch on Saturday as there were so many good reviews we thought we would try it. We ordered a drink and looked at the menu. The table we were on did not say reserved on it but, after we sat down, a woman came along and insisted she wanted a table by the rail closest to the sea where we were sat and, after talking to the waiter, she left. We had our drink and wanted to order another drink and food but was told the table was reserved from 2pm for someone, perhaps for the woman who had requested a table near the rails after we sat down? We pointed out to the waiter there was no reserved sign on the table. The waiter then said he thought we were only having a drink and not eating, but he didn't ask us and we had been looking at the menus. Basically he kicked us off the table, so we paid for our drinks and left. Not impressed with the Customer Service here and not a good way to impress or encourage new customers. Won't be...
Read moreSurprising experience. My mother has come here for years and asked us to come during our visit to Gran Canaria. We were welcomed by the owner. Genuinely nice guy, but most of all very passionate about his restaurant and food. Unlike all the stock standard menus on the same strip, these guys have got it going on. Rocio’s owner travelled around Asia and this is clearly noticeable in the food. Fresh fish in a traditional Spanish way, but with an Asian vibe. Asian/Spanish fusion would be out of line, but this food is unique and truly great. Live (saxophone) music which wasn’t overly present, but just added to the vibe. The (young) kids ordered seconds and we had a blast, enjoying the ocean rolling in and the friendly staff serving their marvellous food. Once every now and than you run into a special place that just clicks. Food, vibe, hospitality and surroundings. I highly recommend this lovely restaurant and it’s lovely...
Read moreNice spot right at the beach. We had a coffee, so I can't judge the food. The staff was quite friendly, but not very attentive (as almost everywhere on the island).
I give overall a 3 star on purpose, as we walked by this spot a couple of times, our direction was quite clear: PAST this restaurant.
Everytime they urge you to eat there. I personally hate this, feeling like on a bazaar. When I want to eat there, I check the menu or stand still at the spot to wait to be seated. When restaurants intercept passerbys and urge them (harass them is a tiny bit too strong) to sit down, I avoid eating there at all costs.
If they are in such a need of customers, something...
