This is an edit to a review I posted in 2024. It’s now 2025 and we are back in mojacar for our anual winter trip. We decided to give Blu another try as it holds lots of lovely memories of ice cream trips over the years. Happy to report it is back in form!!! Staff were lovely and attentive, food was great and it was full of customers from many nationalities. We had sandwiches (tasty and good value), crepes, ice cream (delicious) , coffees and cake (orange and chocolate again- wow). The only issue is probably an obvious one that’s hard to rectify:- crepes take a while to make if you order a few and come staggered but that’s to be expected with crepes made in the moment and they were worth the wait………..So glad we can call this our favourite cafe in mojacar again!!!…………………..ORIGINAL REVIEW FROM 2024 - Oh dear. We have been coming to Blu for years and I have rated it very highly in the past. This time (feb 2024) it was a disaster. It seems like there has been a change in ownership and they haven’t got their act together yet. The waiter didn’t know what things in the menu actually were (one matcha latte please - huh? What’s that?). The order for the 5 of us came out in dribs and drabs (cold coffee, cold crepe - orange and chocolate cake was good though) and I had to keep telling him that we are still waiting for this and that. Many other people were complaining about how long things were taking. Maybe they just had a bad day. Anyway- After about an hour we gave up and cancelled the things that hadn’t arrived but the staff at the check out couldn’t work out the till and it took a good 10 minutes to pay!!! Feel disappointed that a place we have come back to year after year is like this now. I will update when we come back to the...
Read moreReally wanted to like this place - the thought of a special ice cream after dinner is our thing on holiday!
We arrived and were told to be seated - we waited and waited it was over 15minutes before the waitress came to see us however we noticed she was happily seeing other customers arrive and order.
When she eventually came over we asked for a menu we were told to use the QR code and she walked off.
We looked at the menu online this was not the greatest! Not very clear and the translation wasn’t great Spanish - English.
Finally we decided to go look at the Ice cream counter and decide abit better which is my advise - go to the counter don’t sit down!!!
Another 10 minutes went by and we were finally ordered. (30minutes since arriving).
They didn’t know what a ‘float’ was wven though was on the menu - we assumed it was a coke float and the waitress didn’t speak great English so we couldn’t be to clear ourselves so ended up with something she thought it was. This was not nice!
30 minutes later half our ordered had still not arrived. We asked the waitress who acknowledged us however, it was another 5 minutes until this was rectified and 3 out of 4 had long ago finished!
To get the bill was painful like ordering. People were arriving and being served and leaving but we were left again.
A simple ice cream treat ended up with being there over an hour!
It’s fair to say we won’t be returning! Which is shame it could be a lovely place - maybe more staff and a little less chat between...
Read moreEasily accessible, lovely cafe. Very reasonably priced and very good food and coffee. Friendly and relaxed service. Definitely recommended by us. Gone from 5 stars to two I hate being lied too.
I’ve unfortunately had to edit this review as today we didn’t even get to eat. Sat there for 50 minutes watching tables come and go even one’s that arrived 30 minutes after us. It took that time to get drinks and after asking about food twice they hadn’t even started to cook it. Now this happened yesterday at a different restaurant locally so whether it’s an “English” thing only they will know. Shame as we were really looking for to having breakfast there...
