Bocaina Beach Club Mojacar — Restaurant in Mojácar

Bocaina BC, we've been twice now, first time it was a lovely sunny Saturday and we had tostadas on the terrace which, is basically right on the beach and was reasonably priced for a chiringuito. We really enjoyed the atmosphere; sun, beach, background music and great food. The staff are really friendly and speak some English in varying degrees. They really went out of there way to accommodate our choices, even for something as basic as tostadas, as our choices were not strictly to menu. We returned later that same day for a glass of wine and relaxed once more on the terrace but, this time, on the sofas. Again the prices were reasonable for a chiringuito. The place was pretty busy by lunchtime and welcomed all, including children, at least during daytime. It looks as though it could be quite lively during evening/nighttime and they have music all day, including a DJ later on Saturday afternoon onward. We went back a couple of days later, on a cloudy and slightly breezy day. This time we sat inside and again had tostadas, one with sliced fresh tomato and cheese and another with Bacon and fried egg. As I said these are not strictly speaking a menu offering but, they were happy to serve as per our choice. These two tostadas plus a café Americano and a small pot of tea were €9. This is now one of our favourite places in Mojacar, especially on the beach. Thus, it is highly recommended, so why not pay them a visit...

Can't rate the food as we didnt get that far on the night however I can give you an insight to our experience ... If you are a POC or have family who are, proceed with caution! We went with our family. The customer service was disgraceful, we were treated like second class citizens and told all the tables at the front of the restaurant and on the terrace were all reserved in an almost empty restaurant. But then given 2x tables at the the very back corner in the same area. When asked if we could add one small table to the end of the table so we could sit together, we were told no when they clearly did it for others.The lady was very rude and abrupt. They clearly didn't want us there and were not hiding the fact that they were discrimatory. Such a shame. Im only writing this as it was not an isolated incident and happened to another family who had a mixed family. When one of their family members went to ask for a table he was denied access and told all tables are reserved but when his wife who was clearly lighter skinned and Caucasian they had no issue giving her a table and were gobsmacked to see the man and their children walk in. The owners should be appalled as it was their loss on a night probably 400 -500 euros just...

We went for a date night before we needed to return to the real life. We were choosing wisely - I would like to say! By reviews, menus and settings. We had 3 restaurants in the going and I'm very disappointed we leaned towards this one. The setting was beautiful, cocktails well priced, really nicely presented and tasted alright. However we doubt there was any alcohol involved! Food on the other hand was disappointing. Very SMALL portions for the price. The meals tasted very underwhelming. We tried a lot of other places which were cheaper and the food tasted A LOT better than in this place. Waiters and waitresses were very pleasant so...
