First things first. This is an English owned beach side restaurant with great views . The staff are really warm and welcoming and very polite and the owners are the same. We've eaten here twice and firstly had a prawn salad and a chicken salad, which came with a small portion of chips. These meals were fantastic with the best prawns I've eaten in years. Unfortunately our second meal was the Sunday roast, one belly pork & one beef. The restaurant was very busy but it took an hour to get the meal which is way too long. The pork and beef weren't bad but the Yorkshire pudding was inedible and the two small roast potatoes offered were burnt and had to be left. The plate was loaded with vegetables which were really below an acceptable temperature (cold). In view of that I rate this particular effort as very poor. Maybe too many guests squeezed in for the time scales. Better maintaining quality than chasing the cash. Pricing at the restaurant is not bad with meals costing around the €16 mark. It's a shame this meal was poor as the restaurant could easily be a 5 star. Eye just taken off the ball here. I would recommend this restaurant but I personally would not do Sunday lunch here again as this serving...
Read moreAnyone who knows Mojacar Playa well will be familiar with the seemingly endless offering of eateries along the entire length and also the vastly varying quality across the board. It was a real treat therefore to come across Vista del Mar, a wonderfully presented sea view restaurant with a super convivial atmosphere. Whilst many of the others enjoy similar views and position, what sets this one apart is the freshness and presentation of the food, together with very friendly and efficient service. Lovely cold beer and perfectly good rose wine got our lunchtime visit off to a great start. The staff were chatty, fun and very helpful.
As already mentioned, the quality of the food really sets this restaurant apart from some of its neighbours. My son chose a pint of fresh prawns which were beautifully presented and had arrived fresh from nearby Garrucha only a matter of hours before. My wife, daughter and I all chose the chicken, avocado and mango salad, again brilliantly presented and incredibly tasty.
I could go on but, suffice to say, we have a small number of firm favourite restaurants along the playa and Vista del Mar has most certainly just...
Read moreFinally visited here today. We have been told how good the Sunday roast was for a good few months now. Well it was just fantastic, from the very tasty glazed carrot, the carrot and swede mash, green beans, seasoned Yorkshire pudding, THE ROAST POTATOES!! so crispy on the outside so amazing on the inside. Crispy crackling on the pork belly roast, extra gravy boats x2 for the 4 of us. 3 pots of apple sauce x3 plus cranberry for the chicken roast. Cauliflower cheese tasted delish.. Nothing left on 4 plates at the end. Yes we did have deserts 2 apple pie which they said they didn’t home make plus 2 cheese cake which were home made. All of them were so lovely. You get a choice of ice cream, pouring cream or custard if you wanted it on your apple pie. I had a bottle of water, everyone else had 2 cañas each, then 1 coffee Americano. 93€ 23,25 a head. We were all offered a chupito we all said no we were so full. No pics I was too busy eating but the ones on their Facebook are bang on. Will go back and try pie night and fingers crossed they will be doing fish and chips...
