India Gate Restaurant — Restaurant in Orihuela

I’ve had Chicken and Prawn Karai all over the world, and I can honestly say India Gate in La Zenia is right up there with the very best of them.

I don’t usually recommend Indian restaurants because everyone’s tastebuds are different and spice blends can be very hit and miss – especially with a medium Karai. I’ve tried quite a few places on the Orihuela Costa, some have come close to getting it right, however not quite as good as India Gate. They nail it every time: full of flavour, just the right level of heat, and perfectly balanced spices.

We had the set meal for two (€31.95 including a bottle of wine) and it was excellent value. The poppadoms and pickles were fresh and tasty, the Onion Bhaji and Chicken Pakora were cooked beautifully, and both the Chicken Tikka Karai and King Prawn Karai were spot on – rich, aromatic and cooked exactly how a Karai should be. The mushroom rice and garlic & chilli naan were perfect with it, and finishing with a brandy and a Baileys rounded the meal off nicely.

For the price, quality and consistency, it’s definitely worth a visit – especially if you’re a Karai lover. Highly recommended. —...

It is one of the best Indian restaurants in the area for us. The waiter is very attentive and helpful and knowledgeable when choosing food. The drinks are ice cold, and the startes and mains are very well presented. Definitely recommend this place over other Indian restaurants in the area.

Update Oct 2025, called in last night for chicken chaat for starters and a garlic chilli chicken main with jeera rice...oh and a Garlic...
