Food is very nice in old Asia La Zenia…But there are caveats. We went for a family meal when on holidays in La Zenia. I read the good and bad comments before visiting so I knew what to expect in a sense. After visiting I understand the bad comments, I get it. My interpretation is that there is a language barrier with some staff. They are too eager to please and This comes off like they are pushy, ignorant or that rushing you. This is not that case.

Sometimes they get orders wrong. Last night a lady stood up and left over a soy sauce misunderstanding. Very entertaining. I love watching big British ladies throw tantrums over food.

We ordered an assortment of starters which we intended to share. First two starters came very quickly. Then there was a break before the second starters came. This was not an issue for us as we were sharing but might be an issue for non sharing people.

Main courses all came out at the same time. We all left happy and full and left a tip.

If you intend to visit here make sure you have patience, expect a language gap and maybe use the dish numbers on the menu instead of calling out a name that could be Misinterpreted for another dish.

We will be returning...

Well well well. What an experience. The chicken dishes were incredibly disappointing. To start, the presentation was dull and unappetizing to say the least.

The chicken in the first dish had an unappealing grey hue, looking overcooked and rubbery, if it was chicken…The few tomatoes and yellow fruit tossed on top couldn’t hide the fact that this was not in fact chicken.

We returned our dish and got the skewers in the second dish and my wife Penn was horrified and it was dark grey and cold as her grave is now.

Finally, the sliced chicken in the third dish was bland and soggy, with a lifeless sauce that one couldn’t even imagine.

Overall, the “chicken” was overcookedand undercooked, talented chefs..

None of these dishes looked or tasted fresh, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that this was hastily thrown together from the animals outside. My late wife Penn’s dying wish was to warn others away.

Please see...

Went recently while on holidays in Lazenia, but was very disappointed. We gave our drinks order to the manager of the restaurant who just informed us that we were taking a big table and asked if we knew what we wanted to order off the menu straight away (why give us the table to just complain to us about us taking it?). A waitress came over and took our drinks order again, but the manager came back and asked us what we had just ordered. It was a nightmarish experience to be honest. They threw the bill on our table while 3 of them gathered around us talking amongst themselves while looking at my partner and I. It was honestly horrible and such a let down. When we gave 50 euro for a 40 euro bill they walked away and didnt return with the change until we had to ask for it. Never returning to such an unwelcoming place. Price is not great and the atmosphere isn't one to rave about. Thank you but...

The food in the Old Asia is very good but.....we waited an hour for our starter, and another 40 minutes after that for our main.Looking around the restaurant we weren't the only ones , the couple next to us even resorting to dipping their chopsticks in the soy sauce . The staff run round like headless chickens and give you indigestion by trying to snatch your plates before you've finished , they are like vultures ready to swoop as soon as you put a fork down ,even just to get a drink . This is such a Shame really as the decor is lovely , the food is lovely but its let down badly by the service and waiting time's for your food which are abysmal.
