Café Verde — Restaurant in Palma

We experienced a great service from the staff here and enjoyed the baguettes/coffee that we had. However the free olives that they gave us were recycled from a previous customer. The reason we know this is because there was olive pips already in the bowl that they came in, along with one that had a bite mark in it. We then saw the waiter pour the ones that we didn't eat back into their original container rather than into the bin. I can understand the money-saving reasons for this but the last thing anyone wants is to be eating a previous customers half bitten/sucked olives. This was obviously disappointing because this is the only thing that we can critique from our experience here. Hopefully Café Verde can take this on board and just throw the uneaten...

Nice place on a pretty plaza, with very friendly, attentive service. Simple, but good menu with lots of sandwich and tostada options; huge salads with all kinds of vegetables; delicious, homemade quiche and tortilla española: and a limited selection of tapas. The only slight negative was that the albóndigas (meatballs) were very salty. The coffee is tasty. The place is frequented by locals and other Spaniards, who clearly are regulars - always a good sign. Be careful you don't sit down at the front edge of the plaza - those tables belong to another tapas restaurant with much higher prices. Café Verde is a pleasant respite from shopping and sightseeing...

Despite managing a busy section, our waiter kindly arranged two tables for our family of five and struck just the right balance of attentiveness.
