We ordered two paella, one carne and one mixta (with seafood), and the young woman taking our order repeated back to us to confirm. Another (older) woman brought two mixtas by mistake. We told her that was wrong and she replied to us in Spanish in a very aggressive way saying they were busy and it’s normal to make mistakes and we should just take both mixtas. I don't eat sea food and my partner, who can speak Spanish, asked her to change as we originally ordered. She said angrily that they’ll take long and they did - over an hour in total. The (older) woman came back saying to my partner that was all because we didn’t order in Spanish, even though the young woman who took our order could speak fluent english and that's why we ordered in English. She (the younger woman) was very apologetic for the other woman who had made a scene and accepted it was their fault. She discounted the cost of the carne paella. We were just shocked that after having mistaken our orders and made us wait over an hour, the older woman actually had a go at us.
When I tried the carne I was extremely disappointed, the rice was burnt to the bottom of the dish, the meat was gristly, and it was extremely bland.
I will give the younger woman who served us her due as she was courteous and did get one of the Paella's taken off the bill, but the older woman we found to be extremely offish with customers.
The location is fantastic though, but there is a lot of work needed to bring the food and service above these...
Read moreI would say that I have mixed feelings about this place. My grade could easily be 5 stars if service and transparency was on higher level. Overall quality of food (paella) and drinks (sangria) is really good. Do not expect boneless paella as it is prepared in traditional way. That is what I searched for and it was really good. However, there is no menu visible to costumers. The waiter and also owner is no trying to speak English. So at the end you will order paella which is 14 euros per person (this price you could see on board in front of restaurant). Then you will probably decide to order sangria. For sangria you do not know the price as there is no menu. However, you do not expect to pay more then 5 euros for it. Still you will pay 7 euros for Sangria which is too high. Also waiter will bring you tapas with olives, white garlic souce and bread. This you did not ask for, he brings it by default. Probably you expect that this is free. However, it will cost you 3 euros. Honestly, tapas is worth more then 3 euros. However, you expect that he asks you do you want it or not. Overall, quality of food is high. Due to lack of transparency you might feel tricked after...
Read moreThis place is a scam. Should have a rating starting with 3. There is literally almost no seafood in the seafood paella. The rice is tasteless. Initially you come in and see a very basic interior. Then you are greeted by some rustic old-school fisherman type guys and think this is going to be a rough tactless service, but with love for the food. You see the price and think it can't be too bad, even if it is a total disappointment. Then the plates are delivered and paella distributed. You try it and try to like it, but it is not easy, cause it just isn't tasty. Then you realize that there is no fish or seafood in the thing - two tiger prawns, four oysters and some crab legs' ends. You think it was a waste of time and calories, but at 19 euros it's tolerable. Then the bill comes and you understand that the rustic fisherman facade was a trick and the paella for two meant 38 euros for 300g of rice with some seafood junk. You go away having paid almost 50 euros for that 'authentic experience'. First scam in 5 days of being in Mallorca. You can have two good steaks for nearly the same money in Palma. Thanks everybody for such honest reviews...
