The omakase menu here keeps changing (as it should). But Marlon remains the best sommelier we've ever had, and the food is in a class of its own.
Where to start: My partner and I have visited this restaurant three times in one year: once in 2024, and twice (!) in August 2025 during our one-week trip to Mallorca. As Norwegians, we are used to high-quality omakase and excellent sushi, but this place is unlike anywhere else we’ve been. The fact that we dined here twice in one week, in a city overflowing with amazing dining options, should say it all.
The service: Exceptional. We chose the wine pairing for the 9-course omakase, and were lucky to have Marlon at our table between each dish. He knows the menu inside out, explaining each pairing with clarity and passion, and his expertise in both wine and sake is unmatched. This year, he even tailored the pairing to our preferences - swapping the opening cava, introducing a special white, and ending with yuzu as a dessert wine (because he remembered us from last year - never experienced before). His professionalism sets a new standard for service in a place like Kaizen.
Last year, we were served by Sara, who was equally outstanding (my regret is not reviewing earlier). The other staff have also been excellent, though Marlon and Sara left the deepest impression.
The food: "Kaizen" is a greatly accurate description of the omakase at Kaizen (Japanese, literally ‘improvement’). The food and wine/sake improves from dish to dish. And the restaurant improves from visit to visit. On our second visit this week, we were served a completely different menu from the first - yet with the same precision, coherence, and creativity. I’ve heard the chef can customize based on preferences, but honestly, I would always trust their choices. To preserve the element of surprise, I’ve only shared a few dishes from our latest visit.
The wine: The real punch and 5 star rating lies in Marlon's pairings, as well as the restaurant's wine list. Exquisite! We hadn't really tried sake until we did at Kaizen, and we were impressed about how good a pairing this is to nigiri/maki. However, wine remains at the top for us. Two examples:
One of our overall favorite wines comes from this restaurant and Marlon: Villa Maria savignon Blanc Gran reserva from NZ. Paired with tuna & truffle (2024) and brioche with red prawns (2025). Vibrant, fruity, with passion fruit and grapefruit notes, it shone with every dish it accompanied.
Gran Barquero Fino Solera 10 Anos: Nutty, appley, and yeasty, it paired brilliantly with toro sashimi, beurre blanc, caviar, and wasabi. Interesting on its own, unforgettable with the food.
The location and atmosphere: While all seating is indoors, the atmosphere is among the best we've had in Palma. Both upstairs and downstairs tables are recommended (we've tried both).
Overall: We’ve only experienced the 9-course omakase with wine pairing, and honestly, we wouldn’t recommend anything else. For us, this is the best combination of food, wine, service, and atmosphere in Palma.
Thank you again, Marlon - see...

Food : Japanese and shabushabu
I have high expectations for this restaurant coz we found have Shabushabu. I gave only 2stars because the service .
We arrive at 9:30pm and been arrange at bar side . So we checked with the waiter want change to the table side coz we want eat the Shabushabu. So finally we been change to the upstairs table place.
We start order at 9:45 and wait 30mins just have the Nigiri and the staters. Then until 10:40pm still don't have the Shabushabu. So we asked one of waiter and request is it possible to check with the kitchen coz it's been long time . The only answer we got is " All the table are full . We are doing the food" with a.not good attitude and long face.
Even when we say goodbye to all the restaurant staff ,the waiter before not nice to us ,not say bye or thank you or anything just ignore us.
I noted that the restaurant have three floor but only to waiter it's quite a lot work for 2 of them . This is the management erro should be notice and that will improve your employees service.
For fair, the restaurant sushi and Nigiri it's quite good . One of the waiter is nice and fast in the end we are ok with the nice one.
The Shabushabu it's not really traditional Japan one. But it's a...
Read moreIf I’m honest it wasn’t as amazing as I expected from the good reviews. The shabu shabu menu for 30€ p.p. Is quite expensive for the amount of food you actually get. The broth is not cooked for hours as advertised on the menu and tastes quite sour and bland. I think this dish is more of a gimmick in this restaurant. They are located in quite a touristic area so if you look foreign they will all speak in English to you. I can say with all certainty that you can find better shabu in the neighbourhood of Pere Garau, and for a much better price. To be fair, I didn’t try the sushi, which people seem to like.
About the service: they seem to try really hard, but it just seems like they have never worked in a high end restaurant which they are trying to give the vibe off. I asked in the beginning if they could turn the volume of the music (a little boom box next to my table) down, which they did for a second just to turn it back up. The waiters seem to check on you too often and somehow always at the wrong time (asking if you need more drinks when they just brought them and then not paying attention when you’re finished and actually want another one.
Overall a rather underwhelming and disappointing experience for the...
