I was looking forward to visiting Tabana after the raving reviews of friends and specifically made sure that I booked a table in the interior section of the restaurant, which judging by the pictures in Google is the downstairs part where most of the entertainment is. Upon arrival, we were taken (surprise!) upstairs and we immediately protested since what we thought we booked was a table downstairs. The staff went on to explain that's not the case, that there's an actual terrace outside (no idea why anyone would want to book that) and despite the fact that 80% of tables downstairs were still unoccupied, we were refused a table there and were even told that there's a minimum €100 per head spend required there yet there was no such information or option to book on their website. We didn't want to spoil our evening more so we settled into our seats and tried to make the best out of the evening . We ordered a selection of food to share and felt pressured by our waitress to order fast and more than we wanted, she even advised against ordering their Arabic platter because the sauces were bitter. A bizarre attitude from the staff slagging their own food and it was clearly an attempt to get us to order more expensive items of the menu. To be fair, the food arrived quick, was well presented and delicious, although our table hardly had any space for all the food and drinks so it was a bit of a struggle but very enjoyable nonetheless. It was clear by this point that most of the entertainment was happening downstairs, aside from the few acts that did perform for a few minutes at a time upstairs. People would need to stand by railings to see what all the noise and fun is about down there and we were definitely feeling left out by this point. Promises to move us down after dinner were unfulfilled since, of course every table was taken by this time of the night. I have to say I'm not someone who likes to complain, I go out to enjoy my time and was so excited about this evening and treating my boss to a great night out. I live on this island and love recommending places to visitors and expected that this will be a new addition to my "Great places to visit" list. So with this in mind, I thought I'd give the place one last chance and pulled the manager to one side to enquire why they simply couldn't move us down when the place was empty earlier. My questions were met with indifference and I was told that it's not up to me where I sit and that I should just be happy with whatever they decide. He also admitted that the €100 minimum spend line I was given by the waitress earlier was not true, therefore the staff lied to me saying that. Quite frankly I'm dismayed at the attitude and how poorly he handled the conversation. Customer-oriented service is clearly not something he or the rest of the staff are familiar with and it's sad considering that it's a good venue and the performers did their best to entertain the public. Shame really as I so looking forward to our visit but I don't think I'd be going there again any time soon. I truly hope you take notice of this and change your ways before it's too late. Of course that's if you care, which judging by last night doesn't seem to...
Read moreWas to expect to have some issues on the 1st day, but there were unfortunately way too many to give another rating for now. Long wait, 1:30 passed before we had something to eat in the table. A lot of the tables around us had the same issue, and they even left without having food. Our drinks kept going to other tables, even the same server did the same mistake in a row, 1 being a bottle of champagne with fireworks that went to other tables... when food finally came, it was not good quality, we were 3 people, and when getting the main dishes, we just got 1 1st and then the other 2 15 min later after we complained. All the servers were just running around, and nobody knew exactly what needed to be done, except for 1 good girl server that unfortunately could not correct everything by herself. There was also no visible management coordinating all that new staff in their 1st day... then was a show, but music was so low that dancers seemed to be dancing without music. Also, there was no real coordination there either, and the show was very poor, and performers didn't make any contact with guests except the Dragqueen that at least try to make it more personal. We also got offer a free botle of wine to compensate for all of the mistakes but this one was set on the bill anyway and worst it never came to the table so in In the end we almost had to pay for it even without having it at the table. it was luckily taken away from the bill and a small discount was applied which was a nicer gesture but still we had to pay 100 euros per person so quite expensive for what it is... Such a pity as the place looks wonderful from inside, very chique atmosphere and beautiful traditional big building.... I really hope they can improve all the mistakes so you can get at the level that it appears to be and deserves to be. It has the potential to be 1 really nice hot spot in Palma de Mallorca. So good luck for this season, and I hope to come back in the future and see you at the expected level. And then I will change my rating for sure. But for now, that is...
Read moreMy mum lives in Mallorca and when we came to visit took us to this place as she has been there many times with her friends. It was a Saturday and she normally goes on a Thursday. She requested a table downstairs when she booked and asked whether my brother who is. 14 could come. They said all good and he can come but send a message about a cancellation fee. We had to confirm with our credit card details regarding this. We had a lovely night with good food and cocktails and watched the show up until the end when the party started and dancing began and the waiter reminded us we still had €250 to spend for the table.this was the first time that this happened and my mum was confused so we talked to the manager and she insisted that their policy is €100 per person spend in summer and weekends and this had been communicated to us via the text message which we confirmed. We opened the message and asked where to look for this to which she said: now that you confirmed it disappeared. This was very poorly handled by their management team as we were not aware of this and saying in winter this isn’t the case just in the summer. Also they insisted that the lady over the phone told us but this was not the case. We ended up arguing for half an hour outside about something she couldn’t back up with evidence and insisted this is the first time this issue occurred. She also mumbled something in German to her college in between us talking which was very rude. She argued that my brother isn’t really a kid to which I asked her whether he could drink alcohol or cocktails for him to justify paying €100. We paid our bill and our night was ruined due to very poor management who argued a point they couldn’t prove. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! P.s. they are extremely rude when responding to bad reviews, maybe be a bit more professional or hire...
