Mallorca Wellness SPA - Gran Playa de Palma — Local services in Palma

I visited the spa with my sister, and our experience was disappointing. The manager insisted we book treatments to use the facilities and suggested massages. Initially, I declined but later asked if it was possible to book one. I made it clear it was fine if they couldn’t accommodate me (since I understood that it was on me as I changed my mind), but the manager and receptionist reacted rudely, as though I was being demanding. I was confused by their reaction, but dropped it.

When it was time for my appointment, I arrived with my swimsuit in hand. The manager (short dark hair) questioned why I didn’t have a bag, and when I explained that the spa was a last minute decision, she rolled her eyes, threw her hands in the air and sarcastically exclaimed, “Wow, just wow.” She told me to follow her to the room, which I did to then have her turn around, surprised that I followed her and then starting huffing and puffing?? I was so confused what this woman wanted me to do like it seemed everything I just seemed to piss her off. She then started shaking her head and told me to sit. It was as if the bare minimum of hospitality was too much for her.

Her unprofessional and rude behaviour made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I wasn’t sure if she was acting badly because my older sister wasn’t there or if this was just classic racism.

This experience was far from the standard of service I expected, and I wouldn’t recommend this spa. I would give this place zero stars, but the one star can go to Adriana the masseuse as she was nice and made me feel...

The booking process is easy and online. On their website they recommended coming 10-15 mins early, and I did come early to check in, the receptionist looked at me like I was crazy. I was not asking to begin my appointment early. I just wanted them to know I was here and on time; the website states late arrivals will stick to the appointment time.

I was okay with waiting to the minute of the scheduled appointment time. I had a bad feeling, like I was unwelcome and should just leave but they charge for no show appointments. I thought maybe the receptionist was just having a bad day, but when I was called over, I saw that even the masseuse were stressed out as well. They rushed us to the room to change and rushed us out to leave. Maybe they should schedule enough time between appointments and offer drinks before instead of after. My guess is that management does not treat their staff well.

For the massage itself, it was okay except when the masseuse would reach over and crush my head with their torso, that was uncomfortable for my neck.

Anyway the whole experience left me more stressed...

My partner doesn't like massages so sadly I could not enjoy the couples package they had. However, I did book a 55 minute full body massage here while staying at Hipotel Gran Playa de Palma.

Veronica did a fantastic job and it was definitely the full 55 minutes (which seemed to be an issue on other reviews at other spas).

I haven't had many massages in my life but all of them were not in Europe. I felt a little self conscious when I had to change into transparent disposable thong underwear, which I have never done before. And I had to lay there uncovered when the masseuse returns into the room. I think I may have felt more comfortable if I was instructed to cover up before they came in and if they announced when they were going close to your private areas or lifting the towels/changing positions. Might just be a European thing that I am not used to or that I am just more self conscious about my body.
