Verbano — Restaurant in Palma

Before I came to Verbanos I looked at the google reviews and saw some low ratings recently so I wanted to put those to the test so anyone else can get an unbiased review of the restaurant and those low rated reviews all at once.

To start, I spoke only English there (with an American southern accent). I had no issues at all. The staff were friendly and attentive, so the language barrier that one review mentioned is nonsense.

Here are the times I recorded for the whole service interaction.

The times were super fast, and we weren't waiting for long. I'd also like to mention that the restaurant was full outside, and they only had around 6-7 waiters handling all this, and they did a spectacular job.

Another thing I'd like to mention is that I saw one review complaining about the televisions with Sky Sports on. These televisions are located on both sides of the restaurant and are in no way detrimental to the dining experience I had. I still enjoyed the decor and atmosphere of the restaurant.

Another note I'd like to add. I came on 2024-08-23 around 19, and the bartenders they had working that night were an absolute joy to watch. These two guys did an amazing job they kept getting slammed with glasses to clean from all the tables and kept that bar running smooth 👌.

The cooks did a bang-up job on our food, too. For our appetizer, we had the burrata. And Im not much of a salad man truthfully but this thing was delicious. For my main course, I had the pasta de Pollo, and it was tasty and filling and came with a little bowl of parmesan so you can add the cheese to your desired taste. My wife had the spaghetti frutti di mare, and she devoured it. Every bite, you could see the enjoyment on her face. We ended up skipping desert because we were so full. When we asked for the check our waitress came back with a little chest full of candy for us and that was honestly such a sweet gesture. It's what inspired me to write a detailed review incase anyone might get turned away because of the few negative reviews Verbanos has. Let me reassure you and reiterate. My wife and I had a great time and loved the whole experience of Verbanos. My one and only regret is that I ate here Friday instead of coming at the beginning of my vacation.

We stopped by for dinner. Best decision! Atmosphere is chill and cool. The interior design is just awesome (green & flowers everywhere). There’s an open kitchen and every table provides a clear view of the chef working. Truly amazing. The staff is super friendly and truly cares about your experience. They know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about. Making the customers happy is their main priority. Food is delicious, some Italian classics and some twists. The starter - prawns with garlic, onions, olives, pepper, and olive oil – was served in a cast-iron skillet. We also ordered Bruschetta. Starters were super tasty. Main courses – pizza and flank steak stripes – were great too. Overall: outstanding and 100% worth it! Can’t wait to return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone! Not...

Wir waren am 24.08.2023 im Verbano. Die Location ist richtig toll. Wir hatten reserviert und es stellte sich heraus, dass man das tatsächlich machen sollte. Soweit alles im grünen Bereich. Wir wurden auch sofort von einem freundlichen Kellner in Empfang genommen und zu unserem Tisch gebracht. Eine weitere Kellnerin nahm unsere Getränke und Essenswünsche auf und verschwand erstmal. Im Lokal war jeder Platz besetzt und der Service hatte gut zu tun. Die Getränke kamen relativ schnell. Zur Vorspeise hatten wir Vitello Tonnato und Carpaccio bestellt. Beides kam etwa 15 Minuten nach den Getränken. Und dann nahm das Unheil seinen Lauf. Das Kalbfleisch war viel zu dick geschnitten, dadurch zäh wie Leder, die typische Thunfischnote war nur ganz, ganz leise zu schmecken und bei der Garnierung mit dem Rucola Salat hatte man wohl vergessen, die älteren Blätter und die harten Stengel auszusortieren. Das Carpaccio war ganz nett angerichtet, aber auch hier gab es das Problem mit dem Rucola Salat. Wir hofften also auf den Hauptgang( Pizza frutti di Mare und selbstgemachte Fussili mit Hühnchen, Spinat, roten Zwiebeln und Sahnesauce)...und wurden bitter enttäuscht.

Die Pizza war mit Käse regelrecht zugekleistert und schwamm wabelig im Fett. Ungenießbar. Die Nudeln waren fast noch roh und klebten in Klumpen zusammen. An Salz hatte man auch nicht gespart, dafür jedoch an den roten Zwiebeln ( die 2 vorhandenen Stückchen fanden sich erst nach langem suchen. Leider auch nicht essbar.

Nachdem wir dann 3 verschiedene Kellner gebeten hatten, dass man uns die Rechnung bringt, hat sich tatsächlich einer erbarmt und auch nachgefragt, ob denn mit dem Essen was nicht in Ordnung gewesen wäre. Wir haben es ihm erklärt, er verschwand und kam mit der Rechnung wieder. Er sagte uns, dass er die Hauptgerichte nicht berechnet und wir doch bitte nochmal kommen sollten, denn das heute wäre: Zitat: "normalerweise nicht der Standard". Wir haben bezahlt und ihm nochmals versichert, dass er ja nicht schuld an dem Essen ist. Danach mussten wir tatsächlich in einer anderen Location erstmal einen Schnaps zum runterspülen bestellen.

Hier nochmal ein ganz großes Lob an den netten Kellner für seine Professionalität im Umgang mit Reklamationen.

Wir werden das Verbano im nächsten Jahr nochmal besuchen und schauen was sich getan hat. Fürs erste werden wir Pizza und Nudeln von unserem...
