Can Padrès — Restaurant in Pals

This place is amazing. World's best chicken?? Man I think it probably is, top 3 for sure!! I'm from Houston, Texas, USA. There we have a lot of Mexican places and food trucks that do chickens like this but they are not quite as good, ha! This is like a kinda fancy, restaurant version of those! They have some other stuff on the menu too (the caprese salad was awesome!!) but the chicken & fries is so, so good you don't really need anything else. They have a nice beer selection & adult beverages as well, of course, this is Spain lol.

The outside patio was something special. Another reviewer (a local guide) said the trees were artificial but she is mistaken, they are real!!! I asked my waitress if they were real or not, she wasn't sure haha. So I plucked a leaf off to check, it had sap, FOR SURE REAL! They built the entire patio over an orchard / tree farm arrangement of real trees! So cool and muy authentico!!

There's also a great playground area for the kiddos after filling up on top notch pollo! This place was great, apparently it's been around for a long time. Here's to wishing you many more decades of success 🙌 🥇 🏆...

Unbelievably good chicken, chips, alioli.

All the other stuff on the menu is good, too, but chicken/chips/alioli is just so hard to beat. This is not a michelin star place, you are not going to push the boundaries of gastronomy or impress your date, or add a 1000 Instagram followers, but have been eating here with my family for 10 years and pound for pound (or euro for euro) I cannot think of anywhere else in the world that is such great food, great value and consistently well-done, year in-year out. The quality of food has never dipped, hard to see how it could be improved. I can just taste the Alioli now....

It can get busy, the staff can sometimes be a bit stretched, you may well have to wait for a table at busy times (although at least you can have a drink while you wait), it is likely that someone will have to drive, you will have to burn some calories off at some point afterwards.

If you visit Begur and don't eat here then you have seriously missed...
