Not sure what went wrong, but I ordered gambas (23 eur) and they were terrible, they were very smelly, not cleaned whatsoever (you get all the prawns with it's intestines etc, hence the smell), really a terrible experience.. apparently this is how it is served in spain.. I also ordered sangria which was full of undisolved sugar.. We also has a plate of variety of fish which was actually nice and fresh.
The prices are rather on a higher end, and you need to order everything separately (fries, bread etxnoruing is served additional to the fish/gambas). We paid 70eur for lunch for two...
Service was nice, but didn't speak a word of English, they tried to communicate so I appreciate that.

The view of course is pretty cool as you are sitting right on the Peniscola castle island.
Prices on the other side were fine for the meals and amount you got.
Also vegetarian options are limited and it's not easy to determine which plates in general...
Read moreA rare combination of very decent and fairly priced food and an absolutely spectacular location. Everything we ordered, from the fried fish (pescado frito variado), to the razor clams (navajas) to the local octopus stew (all I pebre de pulpo) was fresh and perfectly prepared, and the seating was on the walls of the castle overlooking the bay. Proof that affordable restaurants in touristic locations don’t have have to gouge their customers and serve...
