El Posito — Restaurant in Pollença

This was our first dinner in Mallorca and we realized after that it was the best meal of our entire trip! Everything was excellent! We started with shrimp and squid tapas for 2. I was hesitant on the squid, afraid it would be rubbery. Not so! It was quite delicious! The shrimp was the best I had in Spain. There were 4 of us and the tapas for 2 was plenty for each of us. Two of us had the perfectly done and tasty sea bass—a good sized portion, but not ridiculously big like some European fish plates. My daughter and husband shared paella and it was literally 4 full plates of food. Our host expected us to stay for hours and continue to eat and drink—the Spanish way! He teased us when we asked for our check—in a friendly way! But we are Americans and we’re getting up early to cycle, so he let us go. I just wish I had photos of the food! We will come again if we can make it back...

We went here on a recommendation, looking for traditional Mallorcian food, having been told it was great value for money. What we found were prices equivalent to those in the fancy restaurants along the waterfront. There was no mention of a menu of the day, and when we asked for a bottle of water, we were given the expensive option, without being asked. Looking around the restaurant, every single other table had the 1.5L plastic water bottles, available from the supermarket ... no doubt they paid 1/4 of the price. We left feeling taken advantage of. The food itself was average, and we have had much nicer at other places...

Had a fantastic meal at El Posito. We went for date night (left the kids with family!) and was recommended this lovely restaurant hidden off the beaten track, that serves fresh local food. I was going to order the suckling pig, but the waiter recommended the fish, and said it was very fresh and the standout pick today. So we listened, and the meal did not disappoint! It was absolutely amazing! Sangria was the best I had on the island and service was fabulous. Would definitely recommend this place to families, couples or big groups. Very very reasonably priced.
