Iru Restaurant — Restaurant in Pollença

Went here after good review/recommendation but ended up being disappointed. We reserved a table but when we got there, there were loads of free tables even though adjoining restaurants looked quite busy. I guess that tells its own story. We had croquettes to start which were very nice and then shared a chicken and vegetable paella. This wasn't presented like any paella I have had elsewhere in Spain. Firstly it arrived suspiciously quickly when normally I would expect it to take some time. Then I would expect it to be plated up by the side of the table and the dish to be left there for us to have extra helpings as and when we wanted. However it was taken away and the whole thing just plated up elsewhere in one go. Also there was no scorched bit at the bottom which suggests it wasn't cooked in the traditional manner. I think it was just a tourist version of paella which was a bit disappointing. Having said that it tasted quite nice just not quite what I expected. After that we just got ignored. We were recommended to this place by the coeliac community and whilst we can't fault the food from that menu, mine was sadly lacking. I ordered a mushroom risotto main but I was given a saute potato, mushroom & egg starter. No explanation why or whether that was acceptable to me. The egg was so undercooked that I felt I would have been ill if I ate it. When I questioned it I was told there was no risotto left, no apology or explanation as to why I wasn't told about this when I ordered. I chose a ravioli alternative which was undercooked but at this point I was so hungry & didn't want to make a fuss. My sister insisted on saying that my food wasn't good & the waiter said 'OK, cash or card'. No apology, no discounted bill...really !? Very poor.

Such a great location. We stopped by this place after seeing how great it looked. It’s such a shame, because the manager serving us was devoid of any sense of what customer service is. Arrogant and miserable, he made our entire group of 8 feel very uncomfortable. The food sadly was also very disappointing given the pricing. Extremely overpriced for microwaved food. I would honestly consider elsewhere to eat, as there are far better, fresher, less expensive places to eat extremely close by. Trust the other reviews saying the...
