A quick Google search led us to this spot when we were looking for a place to eat lunch in Pontevedra and we were not disappointed! The place is no-frills, wooden tables and chairs with paper table covers, a small bar area as you walk in, a slot machine in the corner. 10 euro for the menu del día: an appetizer, main dish, and dessert or coffee plus a bottle of red wine and another of water for the table. Between the four of us, we tried the judías (similar to Romano beans) con huevos, the pescaditos (little fish, fried whole), and the tortilla española. For mains, we had albóndigas (meatballs) and the fried rodaballo. For dessert, we tried the flan and arroz con leche. The judías were overcooked but the taste was great, chopped carrots and bits of smoked ham added some complexity. The albóndigas were the winners by popular vote, tender in a light tomato gravy and served with fried potatoes. Both desserts were a hit, especially because they were not super sweet as some desserts tend to be. An excellent meal, especially for the low cost. I'll definitely keep it on my radar for the next time I'm...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at "The Best Restaurant in Town", and I was very impressed. The owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the service was quick and efficient.
I started with the homemade croquettes, which were absolutely delicious. They were perfectly crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. I also had the red wine, which was a perfect pairing for the croquettes.
For my main course, I had the beef "Craco", which was cooked to perfection. The meat was tender and juicy.
Overall, I had a wonderful dining experience at "The Best Restaurant in Town". I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
Mutchas gracias e un abraço de lós...
Read moreI had such a fun dining experience here. The owner (I’m assuming it was the owner) is a wonderfully warm and friendly man. And very proud of Galicia, the food, the history etc.
The place clearly has a lot of regulars, based of the banter and laughter I was witnessing and I can understand why.
As for the food - I didn’t ask to see the menu. I had wanted the Menu del Dia, but as it was now evening, this wasn’t available. I said I wanted a salad and a lot of meat, and this exactly what I got. And it was delish!! It won’t win awards for presentation, and the street isn’t scenic, but if I return to Pontevedra, I will return...
