Bar La Plaza — Restaurant in Ronda

Where do I start? This is by far one of my favorite places to eat in Ronda. Some friends and myself found this restaurant during the beginning of our study abroad program here, and have returned to eat dinners numerous additional times during our stay. During our dinners, we have conversed several times with Joaquin, one of the owners of the restaurant, and have never been let down by the service. The food always comes out fresh, plated beautifully, and they have a wide variety of plates/tapas for a very reasonable price. Each time I go, I like to try something new, as well as order the molletito panceta for three euros (a bacon sandwich with black garlic aioli; one of my favorite deals there). In addition, they have a nice selection of wines from across Spain, including local vineyards for a great price. Very cute little tapas bar where you chill in the middle of a square, away from the hustle and bustle of the more touristic places in Ronda.

Upon seating, sweaty from the bike ride all the way up to the town, I was greeted by a friendly waiter (that spoke French, English and Spanish) who offered me a tinto de verano to cool down! I ended up having 3, it was so good 😍

The selection of tapas I had was super tasty and the orders were quick to arrive!

Cherry on top, they were nice enough to allow me to charge my ebike battery for a bit while eating 😊

Such a joy to find Bar la Plaza in Ronda. Sitting under the trees canopy in the plaza enjoying drinks and lunch. The location is off the beaten path and lots of locals, just like I want. The food was fantastic. By far the best meal we've had in Spain. The only thing missing was a hammock, so we could work off lunch with a siesta. The owner, Joaquin, tells us he's only been opened for four months. He was engaging, friendly and funny. Highly recommend Bar la Plata if your travels lead...
