On the corner of Es Traves and Cingle and a few feet from the Marina, this is a family owned, well established restaurant bar, that appeals to locals and tourists alike. Been coming here for years. Welcoming, friendly service from a team of smartly dressed waiters, serving drinks (great on the sunny / shaded terrace in summer overlooking the port) or inside the cosy and attractive interior, which preserves lots of the original features of this late 1800's house, including coloured tiles and stonework.
There is a wide selection of tapas ranging from €5.90 for patatas bravas to €8.00 for fried padrón peppers, with platters of prime Iberian ham or cheeses with tomato and olive oil for €11.90 / €14.90 - both to share. Try their traditional home made paellas which are mixed meat and fish or vegetarian (€15 per person), fish and seafood (€18 pp) or €22 for a lobster and seafood paella. All paellas, in common with most restaurants in Spain, are for a minimum of 2 people. Here they include a free sangria.
The main dishes include various salads, pastas, rice dishes, meats and fish. Their roasted shoulder of lamb is excellent (€18) and the mallorquín cod casserole is also highly recommended (also €18). The lobster with fried eggs and potatoes will set you back €28. Decent range of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks available, and their house wines are €3.50 / glass or €15 a bottle - broadly similar to the prices in town.
Good, attentive and charming service (previous negative comments don't really chime - sure it was the Albatros?), this place is great for sitting by the sea with a glass of wine, just a coffee, or to...
Read moreI visited Bar Albatros in January 2023 and had a pretty disappointing experience. My lasagna was burnt at the bottom so that I couldn't eat some of the bottom part. The rest of the lasagna tasted okay but it wasn't anything special. My friend had the seafood pasta which came with a closed mussel. My girlfriend asked for some bread when the food came which the server responded to with a rude comment. I didn't know ordering bread is something unusual? After 15 minutes I signaled the server and he didn't even bother to come to the table. I had to ask my question loudly from 3 tables away. I asked for the bread again and the server said he forgot about it. The bread came after another 15 minutes at which point we had already finished our meals. I certainly hope that the restaurant and server just had a bad day because a restaurant with such bad service and problems with 3 out of 3 meals shouldn't be near a...
Read moreThis used to be the highlight of the bay. It was in 2022. This year (2023) the service was much much slower look (even though they are boasting about a new kitchen just opened). The good food makes up for it a little when it arrives but it was definitely not at its best the twice we tried it. Cocktails are great if you order the right one (stay away from the Mojito, far too bitter) but the serving staff didn't have a clue what was going on most of the time. Watched our drinks get offered to 4 tables, Went over to claim them before they got lost and was told we had to sit down and wait, even though they were ours. Took another 10 minutes after that. What a shame, used to be brilliant. Try elsewhere for the best in the bay. Nunu is...
