After reading the reviews and as Xelini had been listed as one of the best restaurants in Port de Soller we were extremely disappointed with our visit this week. The owner(?)/maitre d’ was very unfriendly to the point of being almost rude and the service was very slow. We had to wait over 10 minutes before he took our drinks order, it was almost like we were invisible. The food was expensive which would have been fine but the quality of the tapas were disappointing and portion sizes very, very small. The restaurant is positioned right next to Kingfisher and from watching and listening the overall experience clients were receiving from the waiters there was far superior, more professional and the food looked excellent - no wonder all tables were reserved. They're not very friendly to solo diners. Food was fine, but did not stand out. I had the sardines and whiting (tinned) in olive oil; gazpacho; spicy chorizo; and bread and olives. My bread order came with one piece. I asked for a second piece; they charged me for two orders of bread.
I got there right at opening (7pm) and the waitress said the kitchen didn't open for another half hour. I had to ask if I could sit - no other customers were there yet. It wasn't until a couple arrived fifteen minutes later, and ordered drinks and food, and received their order, that she returned to see if I wanted to order anything.

We had cocktails off the menu ('Mallorcan' Gin & tonic and also Mojito) as an aperitif and then settled on 6 different tapas to share (this is a tapas restaurant after all) making favourites as; prawns in garlic oil, calamari, meatballs & chicken croquets but weren't too sure about the mussels of the day (bigger and stronger tasting to what were used to) and greek salad which should have been listed as a 'house' salad due to watermelon and radish being included - not offensive, just different.
