Restaurante Cafetería La Pérgola — Restaurant in San Bartolomé de Tirajana

I unfortunately got bland, tasteless french fries, over cooked veggies and the entrecôte was raw on the inside while simultaneously like a rubber sole on the outside. I showed it to the waiter who happily took it back to the kitchen and replaced the whole dish. I got another serving, but the fries were still bland, the veggies were still over cooked and the second entrecôte was full of sinues and hard lumps of fat. I finished what I could but left the place unsatisfied. The service was great. Staff was smiling and helpful, but the food was just not good. La Pérgola is placed on a very busy street so I can't really complain about the level of noise, despite most of it coming from one corner of the restaurant where obvious family members of staff were having very loud interactions with what I can only assume were grandchildren of staff. I had lunch here today, I opted for the mixed tapas. It was a very good portion size and very reasonably priced. Everything that should have been hot was luke warm apart from the potatoes which were piping hot. My meal was just ok but the croquette potatoes were very tasty and the best part of the meal. The omelet was really nice too. Service was excellent.

Edit: I went here again a few days later for lunch, I ordered a Bloody Mary, burger and chips and a small side salad which wasn’t on the menu. There weren’t as many chips as expected, though they were very nice steak cut chips. The salad was plentiful and much more substantial than anticipated and included tuna, olives and egg which I wasn’t expecting and the salad only cost €2 which was exceptional value.

I was also given a complimentary shot which was greatly appreciated.

Went here for lunch and picked up the menu on the table, which was in Spanish, English and German but then a young male waiter came to take my order and as soon as he found out I was English, snatched the menu from me and brought a simplified menu in pictures and said ‘ this the English menu, you order from here’ he then followed that up with an insult in Spanish. I cannot comment on the food as I just got up and walked away. Note to the waiter, the English can read you know and some of us are actually multilingual and know exactly what you are saying. I may give this place another go as long as this waiter is not working. What looked like a decent place to eat, let down my an idiot...
