Reception - was at the sister hotel across the street, which isn’t too much of an imposition, however if you want to visit the reception team, which you will for the Jet2 rep and if you need the safety deposit box key. You’ll need to remember the RFID card to get back into the Suites complex, something you might not have with you if you’ve just gone out to the restaurant. Safety deposit box key is a middling price and deposit, can’t understand why in this day and age it isn’t just included, except to extract a bit more money from the guests!?|Room - Standard bungalow is spacious, with 2 generous single beds pushed together. Beds are comfortable, the AC is situated in the bedroom but comes with a quiet function and as such wasn’t too much of a hindrance to sleep. Space to sleep someone in the lounge-kitchenette area on the couch, firm bed lovers advised. Kitchenette has a sink, “drip” coffee maker and 2 ring induction hob. A few kitchen essentials are provided, although lacking bowls. Be aware cupboards are high, my girlfriend, who happens to more on the petite side couldn’t reach some things. There is a sizeable smart TV which you can cast some things to, didn’t really use it all that much. Rooms are mostly well attended, new towels every 1-2 days, beds made up on a pattern we couldn’t discern, although you can “request” via a card on the door that it be done.|Grounds - well maintained and managed, lush vegetation is trimmed and watered regularly. Between bungalows is cozy without being cramped, plenty of room to sit or sunbathe without being in someone else’s way. There are a wonderful collection of Peacocks (with chicks at the time of our visit) roaming the grounds, adding a lovely wild feel to wherever you are. Do watch your footing on some of the paths, due to droppings. On certain occasions we heard music blaring in from another hotel next to the sister hotel, but on the whole, beyond a bit of road noise it’s not too bad.|Pools - (excluding the adults own wing of the complex)|3, of which none are adults only. Children were in all, without challenge and under the watchful eye of what we assume to be the lifeguard and a number of other staff. There is a “kiddie” pool with slides and water effects which we went nowhere near, another shallow pool which assumed was for bigger children, which we also didn’t use. Then there is the one furthest from the “kiddie” pool which we wrongly (?) assumed would be the adults only pool. This largish pool was in a state of decay, with paint peeling from the sides and bottom back to the concrete, collecting underfoot on the bottom of the pool with sand and other sediment. We never saw it being cleaned, but did not hang around it at the extremes of the day. A subjective question about the use of “fresh” water in the pools, as we could both taste salt in it every time, not sure if there is a state of less salt that falls within “fresh”? Arriving early at the pool side one morning we found that everything had been hosed down not much beforehand and thus was soaking wet. There did seem to be plenty of loungers and parasols for the guests who wanted them, not the most comfortable but nothing that would overly spoil your time using them. Outside the “entertainment” there was good music, which was of a certain generation, great for us, someone younger may not have appreciated it as much. Layered on to that track was the music from the entertainment staff at times and “Muzak” bleeding in from the restaurant setting area, albeit thankfully infrequently. Entertainment staff were nice enough and would leave you be with a little push back, English was fairly well understood. Sometimes prone to cranking up the music to an uncomfortable level for activities.|Bar - of which there is only one and only open for self service for part of the day. A personal gripe of mine, alcohol distribution I completely understand, but soft drinks should surely be available 24 hours!? Beyond self-serve soft drinks, wine and beer, the bar is attended we think till 22:30 (?) and serves a selection of “local” products, brands are available for a price, also for some reason smoothies, why charge extra for blended fruit when it’s otherwise plentifully available in the buffet? Listed (available, under all inclusive) cocktails are from a machine and not worth asking for, “not good” doesn’t cut it. The staff were nice and attentive, cleaning as they went, speakers on the bar make me wonder if they are designed to drive people away after drinks order has been satisfied?|Restaurant - lets start with the positives, the staff were friendly and attentive to the environment, seating was ok, split between an air conditioned glass wrapped room, an outdoor area in between and seating in the area that held the buffet. During the main meal times there was a spread that usually covered the 3 of the 4 walls, with sections of food types. There was plenty of food, it looked to be of a decent quality, however when it came to the “hot” food it was almost always either tepid or cold! Something that really devalued our stay, food being a cornerstone of a good hotel stay, they have a real issue getting it right. The suspicion being that it’s prepared so far in advance and then left to go cold or not adequately heated during the serving, either way it was consistently something we used to dread on a daily basis. Testing what are assumed to be the hot plate’s under the pancakes one morning, found them to be off and room temperature to the touch. Part of the map that we were provided on booking in suggested “coffee and cake” between 4 & 5 pm, this we found out via the Jet2 rep this was a “misprint” and should be coffee and snacks, but seemingly was misprinted in 3 different languages. The snacks look to have been left overs from lunch and we did not partake, cakes did appear around this time, however my partner was told these were for dinner some 2 hours or so later.|Checkout - was offered somewhere to store luggage till bus came to pick us up, it was not overly secured but nothing seemed to happen in our absence. Also offered a room for 30 minutes to shower prior to departure, with was very nice indeed. Would have been nice to continue using our hotels facilities, however they were now locked behind a door to which we no longer possessed a key.|Other - there is a wellness room not far from the restaurant that offers reasonably priced massages and I found it to be a pleasant experience beyond the fact she knows how to use her elbows to manipulate your muscles. Outside the hotel within a shortish walk are a number of shops, bars and...

Visited the HL Miraflor suites at the end of Aug for 10 days. What drew us to this particular place was the fact it was individual bungalows , each with it's own wee terrace area with a couple of loungers and table /chairs. This gave you the option of relaxing at your bungalow after a day at the pool (or instead of if that takes your fancy).||We booked a superior bungalow, consisting of toilet with large walk in shower , living room area with flat screen TV and bedroom, again with TV . The bungalow was spotless and cleaned daily. Facilities included a safe (no fee) , microwave, fridge, kettle and a steamer. The bungalows are advertised as sleeping 2 to 4 people. ||The bungalows are all within easy walking distance of the restaurant area and pool. I'd say the maximum walk you'd have is a minute or two, literally.||The grounds of the suites are kept immaculately clean and the grounds staff can be seen all day attending to the common areas. ||There are 3 pools , one for kids and 2 others with ample sunbeds located around them.|We went to the pool most days around 0830 but even if you wanted a long lie, you'd have no issues getting beds at 10,11, 12 and beyond. |Pool area is spotless again, thanks to the grounds staff every morning.||The bar , located outside near to the dining area is small but allows self service for beer , wine , sangria and soft drinks (between 1030 and 2230) for all inclusive guests.||A few minor gripes about the bar area. One being that given people head to the pool earlier (we sat from around 0830) maybe the access to soft drinks could be earlier? Having to wait from 0830 to 1030 when it's hot to get a soft drink is a bit unreasonable.||The other is that not everything is included in the all inclusive and it really wasn't clear what was and what wasn't included. A simple all inclusive drinks list located at the bar would help this.||Certain cocktails (pre mixed out a machine ) were free , but the choice was very limited (I think maybe only 3?). Others had to be paid for . This is one of the few places I've been to where I've had to pay for some cocktails but not others. I'd obviously happily pay for branded drinks (which is usually the rule at all inclusive hotels ) but would suggest more drinks should be added to the all inclusive list. After all, people are already paying a premium for all inclusive so in my opinion, more could be added to this option.||The snack bar , which began serving at 1200, located in the dining area , was a bit of a let down. Hot dogs, burgers , onion rings and possibly chicken nuggets. That was pretty much it so we usually had to wait till 1pm when dinner was served.||The food has attracted a few negative comments on other posts and to be fair to HL, it was fine. ||Breakfasts had your usual , cereals, pastries, fresh pancakes , fresh omlettes, plus a full cooked option of bacon, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, beans, sausages etc ||Lunch has different dishes most days, with beef stews, grilled pork, chicken, fish, fries , salad bar , desserts. I'm quite fussy but I always managed to find something. ||Dinner (from 7pm) was more of the same.||Could the food be improved ? Definitely. A suggestion would be themed nights , Chinese , mexican , Indian etc . It would add a bit of variety and could be implemented quite easily.||I know the suites are catering many different nationalities but most people would enjoy the variety that suggestion would bring.||I don't like fish so that instantly reduced the options available to me and I found myself opting for pizza , fries and salad on more than one occasion.||The food was however , always hot enough, always plentiful, cooked well and the kitchen staff/servers worked hard to feed everyone.||The pool area was spotless, as were the rest of the grounds.||I've seen reviews from others mentioning bugs (cockroaches etc ) and can honestly say over the 10 days I didn't see a single one. Nowhere ||This could be helped by the peacocks that wander around , which was lovely to see!||The entertainment team worked tirelessly with aqua gym and games throughout the day , then entertaining the kids at night||Night entertainment was good and the suites make an effort to vary the acts. Kids entertainment from around 2030 to 2100 then a different act each night, singers, live bands , sax players, magic act, bingo etc from 2100 to 2200/2230.||Hotel entertainment is always hit and miss but the HL suites made more of an effort in this regard than many hotels do and the entertainment team deserve a special mention for trying to keep the guests happy.||The suites are located near to the yumbo centre so there's always other places to go if the entertainment isnt to your taste.||Could things be improved ?|Yes, definitely, add some more food options to add more variety the food a bit , extend the options for the snack area , extend the times of the snack bar section , extend the drinks selections but overall , we thoroughly enjoyed it.||Would we come back ?|Most definitely |Thanks for a...

I am writing this review in the hope that it reaches people who are questioning this hotel due to the renovations and the bad reviews. In the month leading up to our stay I was constantly checking for new reviews to get a real picture for what the hotel is actually like, so hopefully this helps anybody else in that same position. ||First of all, the accommodation was absolutely brilliant and we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at our bungalow. We loved the minimalistic, modern design and it was so spacious which made such a difference to our holiday. The TV's in the bedroom and the living area were absolutely huge, and we had air con in both rooms which worked amazingly. There was also some lovely little touches such as toothbrushes and a razor displayed in the bathroom (which was actually useful considering we had both left our toothbrushes at home!!!) The private outside space was lovely to have and having a bungalow instead of a hotel room made such a difference to our holiday - we absolutely loved it. The check in at the hotel over the road was no issue for us whatsoever, it is quite literally right across the road and they also gave us a welcome drink which was a nice touch. We stayed in the superior bungalow (renovated), and I must admit I don't think I would have been too happy in the older style bungalows, but we are a young couple that enjoyed the modern look so it depends how fussy you are. However, I think if all the bungalows were renovated to the same standard the hotel would be even more amazing.||The pool areas are brilliant and we had such a relaxing time sunbathing there. The pool is big enough to do a few lengths even if there are other people in there. There was consistently free sunbeds dotted around and there was no issues at all in finding a sunbed - plenty free throughout the day. The entertainment was good and not too intrusive in case this isn't something you wanted to engage in. I played one of the games but in general we were not too fussed about the entertainment so were both glad this wasn't too overpowering. We also enjoyed the music by the pool, but can understand people may be irritated by this. ||Now on to the all inclusive, I have read so many bad reviews about the food and neither of us agreed with this. I personally never have too high expectations of all inclusive food and think some people expect gourmet meals when they book an all inclusive. I would say the food was actually a really decent standard for a fairly budget priced hotel. I am celiac and therefore am limited to what I can eat, and I managed to find something new to eat virtually every day. The staff also provided me with GF pizza, GF muffins and GF cookies which was amazing :) Also, I have read comments about the meat. I am extremely fussy with meat and rarely eat it, however I ate different types of meat every day on this holiday! The only thing I didn't eat was the steak, however the chicken, beef, lamb etc was absolutely lovely and that is coming from someone who is a fussy eater! Both of us were impressed with the food, admittingly there were a few occasions where we felt the food was cold but again we didn't arrive with high expectations so it didn't bother us. Loads of choice each day and if I wasn't gluten free I would have been all over the cake selection!! The ONLY thing I disliked regarding the all inclusive food was that there aren't ice cream or snack options throughout the day. I thought a nice touch would be to keep the ice cream station open throughout the day, or have an ice cream freezer behind the bar for the all inclusive guests. Apart from the lack of snack options/limited eating times, we didn't have any complaints about the food. The all inclusive drink options are actually really varied and they have a large all inclusive drinks menu. Pretty much any spirit you can think of, pre made cocktails, self serving beer and sangria. No complaints about the alcohol apart from fresh cocktails would have been nice.||The location of the hotel is so good - walking distance to the Yumbo centre for a night out which we did twice, walking distance to the beach (you can get the shuttle but we were getting our steps in after stuffing our faces), not far from the airport either. ||We, as a young couple, honestly had such an amazing holiday here and for the price we paid would actually return. The bungalow made a huge difference to our holiday experience, the food was good, drinks on tap, good music by the pool, a relaxing and good vibe around the hotel - things going on but not too overwhelming or busy. For me, if you are on a bit of a budget or looking for a really decent priced hotel, I would strongly recommend HL Miraflor. We found it extremely good value for money and had such a brilliant week away. Really hope this review helps give a better picture of what...

Although it is not a 5* resort the lovely Miraflor Suites deserve the best rating they can get. The resort are dozens of small villas (bungalows) located in a picturesque garden, filled with palm trees and cactuses. There are a pool, restaurant, bar and mini disco within the facility. Miraflor is located across the street of its ‘big brother’ Hotel Rondo where you will find the reception, additional bars and a restaurant along with amenities such as a hairdresser, supermarket and even a private clinic with rehabilitation center. Each night the team prepares a mini disco for the kids and later some fun events for adults. During the day you will enjoy water aerobics, yoga etc. Big like: there are home pets living there: two cats, three peacocks (!!!) and two rabbits. Nothing beats opening the door of your villa in the morning to find a peacock looking at you in the garden ... Location: in the centre of Playa del Ingles. Large shopping center Yumbo is 5 mins of walk away. Bars, cafes, shops and discos are all around. Beach is about 25 mins of walk away so I recommend to use the free shuttle provided by the hotel (several times a day). The famous dunes of Maspalomas are across the town so you’ll need to take a free hotel shuttle (available only once a day) or a taxi to get there fast. Rooms: these villas offer great holidays especially for families because you will have at least double space than in a typical hotel room. A family of 4 will be suited nicely as there are 4 beds in each villa. A big plus is a kitchenette (small cooker + fridge + microwave) if you need to prepare a child formula or whatever. All villas have A/C and a TV although it would be waste of time to sit inside and watch TV. As villas are secluded there is not much noise from the streets. As for the interior it is a bit dated but nothing serious to complain. Only inconviniences were a faulty A/C remote (got new one immediately) and a non-working phone (who still uses these?). Food: it is great! Huge variety of everything. Hotel does prepare typical dishes as well so you can taste local Spanish food, there were also Italian and even Chinese nights. You can opt in for all-inclusive packages but in my opinion they are not worth the surcharge unless you are a heavy drinker and plan to spend your holiday in the bar. Beverage prices are very reasonable for such a holiday destination. Staff: very friendly and helpful. I like that the owner employs a lot of international staff - chatting with them about therir origins and how they came to Spain and are learnimg spanish was fun and it brought a more international atmosphere. Big props especially to the animation guy from Poland! Some info and tips you won’t find in official catalogues: - Yes, the pool was heated as of February 2019 when we were there. It does not mean that you will enjoy wellness and spa-like temperatures but it will be okay for winter swimming, even for kids. - You will need to carry a color bracelet around your arm: greens for half-pension and orange for all inclusive guests so you can’t cheat and pretend you are all inclusive if you are not. - There are no hotel parking lots. If you rent a car, you will have to find some public parking in the streets around the hotel. Always park on white markings! Blue markings require parking tickets (pricey if you plan to park there for several days) and yellow markings are forbidden from 8AM-8PM. - Water from the bathroom is not drinkable. Supermarket is around the corner so buy bottled water. - Hotel guests are mostly Germans, Austrians, English and Scandinavians. They are equally divided between families, sports freaks, elderly couples and male couples (I found out here that Gran Canaria is a popular gay destination). - Wifi is free only in the hotel lobby. Otherwise it is rediculously pricey. Go and buy a local prepaid SIM card if your mobile plan doesn’t include Spanish mobile data.
