I am all for a homely local restaurant, and we all know how nothing beats grandma's cooking, but my grandma at least knew how to wash dishes or keep her place clean. I would rate it zero if I could.
This restaurant was dirty all around, from the tables and floor to the cutlery and glasses. Even the pictures hanging on the wall had food stains. Food was clearly not fresh, and was only partly warm in spots, so microwaved badly. The presentation was sloppy and unappetising. Main lentils dish had an odd aftertaste.
The waiter, (who was the only person there and most likely the owner) was rude and took a personal offence that we didn't finish the main dish, or wait to try the desert.
Sure, the place is cheap, about €6.5 for a meal, which included a soup, lentil dish and cake. And it was all vegan, and from what I understood, all tipping goes to helping animals.
But that does not mean I should accept such a low standard that is bordering on a health hazard. I'd be happy to pay double and triple, if it meant I wouldn't have to worry I'd end up in the hospital with...

The croquetas were simply the best vegan croquetas that I've had, with a garlic sauce that made me remember my childhood. Following that we had a vegetable soup with rice pretty consistent and well balanced. The main was a roasted seitan with veggies, with a wine infused sauce that once again made me remember the food that I was having back home as a child. For dessert I went for the natilla with galletas María.
Often I find myself trying to emulate my childhood recipes in a vegan way, but our friendly host took it to another level, giving me the opportunity to taste the Madelaine of Proust and all the memories that came with...
Read moreThis place reminded me of 1980s veggie places with it's focus on communal feeding and value rather than stylish dining. The food was a bit quirky and seemed to be vegan recreations of local meaty meals. The main course was tasty and the seitan was sweet, succulent and flavoursome. The carrot cake was a sort of layered thing with grated carrot and some type of mousse layered together. A bit of a sloppy surprise when you're expecting cake, but it was nice enough. The guy serving appeared to have pretty dirty nails so I'm hoping he wasn't the cook as well. Fine if you want cheap, vegan eats to...
