Gulagú — Restaurant in San Cristóbal de La Laguna

We tried Gulagu because of the good reviews but left very disappointed (and hungry!!) When I ordered, I explained clearly that I am allergic to onion and garlic and the waiter took a note of this. However, the kitchen was so busy that this was quickly forgotten. We waited more than half an hour for the salad to arrive and even longer for the tortilla, which contained onions even though we were told it didn't. Luckily, I looked before taking a bite. Then the steak arrived in a sauce with chopped garlic. The staff apologised explaining that the kitchen was busy with take-away orders. This is a poor excuse for what happened. Allergies need to be taken seriously, no matter how busy a restaurant is. After almost one hour we left disappointed and hungry having only eaten a salad, which we luckily were not charged for. We live 5 minutes walk from Gulagu and there was potential for it to become a local favourite but we definitely won't...

We were recommended "dishes to share" 2 times, but we only wanted some vegetables. Then, I was asked three times whether I wanted to drink alcohol and answered three times with no (I am pregnant). Asking for a soft drink, the waiter recommended me "water". He brought me a 1L bottle (because he didn't check the size when I ordered) and took it back when I asked for 1/2L. He brought me 0,7L. Well, so good, so far.

I felt, however, constantly unwell when the waiter continued to touch his running nose (again, I am pregnant). Apparently, he was sick. When I later confronted his colleague who brought the bill, I told him that the sick waiter should either wear a mask or stay at home, and he simply answered with "yes". Apparently, he wasn't caring...

The food was good (a bit too salty and too much dressing to be perfect). Wouldn't recommend it, especially because of...

I had a burger where the meat was obviously frozen just like the fries. The burger had no salad and very little souce, so all together it was very dry and heavy. The "crispy onions" were just store bought Röstzwiebel and they were on top on the bun instead of inside the burger, so they fell of the second I touched it...

I also had to wait really long for the burger and the fries were served without any souce... We asked for some mayo and ketchup but it never arrived...

If you don't want to (or don't know how to) make burgers just take it off the menu. I'm sorry to leave such a bad review but we had high expectations (based on your rating) and our lunch didn't live up...
