Ahaztezina — Restaurant in San Sebastián

What a terrific restaurant! We ate outside under the awning, three adults and two children ages 5 and 7,l. We agreed that the calamares (with squid ink mayonnaise!) were the most tender we’ve had, and the pesto burrata salad with a variety of greens was outstanding. The children had tempura de bacalao which we also sampled (with real ketchup for their potatoes— something one can’t always find in the Basque Country), and it was, again, tender and delicious. We had excellent service, and were also greeted by the chef who came out to our table and inquired about our meal. While Ahaztexins could certainly be a fine-dining restaurant for adults, we so appreciate their kindness in incorporating my two young grandchildren into our experience. We highly recommend...

Nice but very quiet and a bit desolate. We enjoyed the food which was executed flawlessly with fine ingredients from the Iberian pluma to the Octopus, leg of lamb and the beef cheek. Best were the desserts, we tried all four of them and they all delivered on their promises. Good wine recommendation and tasty cold Estrella Galicia beer. Losing the fifth star on being lonely and too quiet even for a family with children. Noted also that the choice of Avec was close to zero, surprising to a restaurant with this level of ambition. The service was kind and welcoming but given the white table cloth and the quiet ambiance, the gastronomic professionalism could be bumped up a notch to frame the right...

It is our second time here at Ahaztezina and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal! The entrees we got were amazing - the Russian salad and fried calamari. The mains - the scallops and octopus were the best we’ve had this trip! Amazing texture and perfectly spiced. We also had the tortellini to share between us, and a cheese cake for dessert, it was good but cannot be compared to the other dishes. If we had to pick one dish, we highly recommend the octopus! The waitress Alfonsina is so lovely so well and we had an amazing time.

In addition, we got to get away from the hustle and bustle of the old town and sit down and have a lovely meal in a quiet restaurant.
