Wonderful Monday night dinner!
We visited in off peak season - mid October - on a windy Monday night and didn't have a reservation, but luckily it was quiet so we were seated with no issues.
The seating is set up con communal benches with up to 6 people per bench so if it was busy, you will be sharing a big table but they're big enough where it feels like you're not listening in to everyone's conversation.
The service was incredible, the (I think) boss spoke great English and was really engaging, warm and funny, and broke everything down for us about the beef and how to order.
There's 3 ribeye options and 1 T Bone, and you order to share. We were three people so had one large piece of Galcian ribeye at €60 per kg, and he suggested 1.3kg. The beef was presented to us before cooking to confirm the size and weight, so there are no surprises on the bill. It was exactly the right price.
What I really liked was that they cook it rare - no options to choose - but give you a hot plate where you can brown the sliced steak to cook it a bit more to your liking if you wish. I really liked this concept - great for the restaurant to make the steak how it should be, rare, and not have to think about everyone's different preferences, the guests can do it themselves. And it's a fun interactive thing as well!
On the menu each steak option tells you tje age of the cow, how long it's been hung for and then dry aged, as well as the breed so if you're into beef, you'll love it.
The tomato salad as a side excellent, well salted in advance so you get all the lovely juice coming out of it, and the mushroom with egg was also standout. Truly delicious, and probably the best mushrooms I've ever tasted.
For 3 people including 2 drinks each and dessert each we paid around €170, with €78 being the steak. At the time of writing, that was around £65 which for a ribeye between 3 people is really excellent value for the quality. The beef really was incredible and the fat just melted in your mouth. I've had far worse steaks at that price!!
I can't recommend this place enough, the beef and the service are...
Read moreI’d you want to be bullied come here. We should have left. The waiter said he would accommodate us with no reservations. The place was empty and pretty much stayed that way the entire night. Then he pressured us to eat a particular steak with pepper and tomatoes. The same I see in most of the reviews for this restaurant. The tomatoes were good and my husband enjoyed the peppers. The steak was 62.00. We split it. It was very chewy. I had to spit out the chucks from each bite that I could not chew. He gave us a the usual lines he gave another customer. But he was very pushy. I had to really think about day about this review. I have had much better service in San Sebastián. Again unless you want to be bullied DONT Go here. We stayed because we were curious of the TXULETERIA steak. I think we will try this steak...
Read moreWhile visiting San Sebastián, my best friend’s mom, who lives on the same street, recommended this place and we had a fantastic night! I was celebrating my birthday, and it was the perfect spot for dinner. They suggested a local wine, Rioja, and it was our first time trying chuleta. The meat was absolutely delicious—so flavorful, I can’t even describe it. Our server was very kind and spoke English, which was great since my husband only speaks English, while I speak Spanish. He also recommended the tomatoes, which were the best I’ve ever had, and we even tried the dog liver, which was surprisingly yummy. The place is small and cozy but very upscale, and we felt so spoiled by the whole experience. A must-visit when in...
