Alderdi Zahar — Restaurant in San Sebastián

After exploring some of the best pintxos spots in San Sebastián, dining at Alderdi-Zahar was an absolute delight. The refined decor, beautifully set tables with crisp linens, and the warm ambiance made it a standout experience. Genesis, our server, was exceptional, attentive, cheerful, and truly dedicated to providing outstanding service.

The €29.90 menu is an incredible value, offering generous portions and dishes that were nothing short of exquisite. Each bite was a testament to the culinary artistry this restaurant offers. Without a doubt, Alderdi-Zahar is the best dining destination in San Sebastián. A must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable, elevated dining expérience.

Very disappointing food and service overall. The rigatoni mushroom “carbonara” was a cream sauce with mushrooms. The lamb chops unseasoned. The fish was full of tiny fish bones that made it almost impossible to eat. And the worst part was our waitress’s attitude. When we asked to change the silverware from our entree to main course, she took them from the plate and put them back on the table, affirming she was not going to change them. And lastly, when we asked for butter for the bread, she said no. We asked again to another waiter, who was kinder, and brought us margarine…margarine is not butter. Save yourself the time and money and go and enjoy a real good-quality restaurant around...

This place has really disappointing food. If your time in San Sebastián is limited, don't waste your time here. Service and atmosphere are fine, but the food is really the cheapest, lowest quality ingredients found. They polish their appearance and photos, but all the food we had (Tuna salad, fish stew, squid, veal balls, milk curd dessert) either lacked taste, were overly drenched in oil, or chose cheap ingredients (ikea-style meatballs instead of actual veal meatballs for example). This is also the first time in my life that I'm disappointed with the wine. Just don't bother, anywhere in the same neighborhood is...
