Honkaku — Restaurant in San Sebastián

Nice food but bad service - the staff are VERY slow. We ordered 3 dishes to share as a main between two people and they brought each dish out individually instead of all together (they didn't advise us of this at the time of ordering). By the time we had finished the first dish, the second one hadn't even been brought to the table so we were left sat waiting. We even had to stand up from the table to go and find a waitress to find out what was happening with our food (no apologies given either). From ordering, it took 1hr and 30 minutes for all of the food to come to the table and we couldn't even combine the dishes so it wasn't very enjoyable at all. Came here whilst on holiday with our two young children aged 2 and 4. Staff was so dismissive. It’s almost like they hate their jobs. We asked for milk for our children and they seemed offended by the idea. It came eventually, quite hot so had to ask for more cold milk. Then we ordered, 15 mins later noticed everyone else was eating and then told we hadn’t ordered. Then waited some more, they couldn’t even offer us snacks whilst we waited due to their mistake.

My husband was very annoyed and wanted to leave. Sushi eventually came. It was ok. We would have eaten anything at that point! Asked for bill then got some fake niceness on our way out after paying of course.

I would recommend to avoid this place, especially if you are allergic to peanuts. When ordering, I asked them to take special care not to put any peanuts in the food due to my allergy, even though the meal I ordered doesn't normally contain any. Still - to our surprise - there were some pieces of peanuts in the rice that made me seriously sick for the rest of the day, but the effects of this could be much worse! They brought a second dish that was finally free from nuts, but the waiter seemed to be annoyed and did not excuse with a single word.
