We were staying in Maria Cristina, and while strolling we came across this place that serves focaccia. The store lady, immediately welcomed us even though we were just browsing through their windows like any other first time naive tourist in a foreign land. She greeted us with a very warm “Hola” “Que Tal?” turns out that lady was the store owner Emilia. Without hesitations, she asked us “theres a new batch just coming out of the oven, if you guys are interested?” This piqued my interest, as i am quite picky about the freshness of my food (i want everything to be fresh out of the oven, piping hot). So we tried one of their of offerings, and it turned out to be one of the best breakfasts in San Sebastian we ever had. The focaccia was fresh delicious and more. Their ingridients were top shelf and they didnt scrimp on any of it. The pesto, the arugula, their tomatoes, their mozarella - you name it, it was all first class and spot on. Their chili infused olive oil drizzle also added that extra kick, just in case you need it. The owners hospitality, Emilia and Daniel, was just the cherry on top. You can feel the passion and love of the couple for the food that their dishing out. They explained every ingridient, how it is important for them to use the best of the best raw materials, which made sense because their stuff was amazing. If you are in San Sebastian, please do yourself the kind favor of trying out their food. And please have a chat with them, because they are a very friendly couple, that can offer you a sense of warmth and comfort not only thru their personality, but most importantly, their food (well you are in San Sebastian arent you?). We came back to this place twice during our stay in San Sebastian. And the couple Emila and Daniel, just added to the reasons why we fell in love with San...
Read moreThe best marketing for food we’ve ever come across! We just happen to pass by this store when we were greeted by this vibrant, mouth-watering window display of what looked like sandwiches and pizzas. Except they’re not a display, they’re actually the food. We had just eaten them so we vowed that we will come back for them the next day. And that we did.
We were about to leave the city but we had to make a quick stop to try this store. We ordered 3 different sandwiches and 1 flatbread, and wow they are HUGE. They’re honestly for sharing or for 2 servings!
Trying them was a different story. We ordered one which had all jamon, one w pesto burrata alfalfa jamon, one w burrata tomatoes pistachio, one w Parma ham of sorts. We had certain expectations since they looked so good from the window, so when we had taken a bite, wow. It didn’t disappoint. Just wow. It was so good. I had tried the one w pesto burrata jamon and alfalfa, and it was PERFECT, granted I had waited about more than an hour before I ate it. The focaccia was so soft and flavorful, didn’t need any tugging. Like I knew it was made in-house and the ingredients on it were so fresh and quality. I think my brothers who ordered a sandwich each were more overwhelmed by the size—which is always a great problem—but the flavor was just there. Gah, what we’d give to be able to try it again. A must in...
Read moreReally wonderful vegetarian/vegan focaccia! The staff is so so knowledgable about ingredients and care so much about quality. They told us about where the wheat is sourced, where they get the salt, how long the bread is fermented and more. It's wonderful to see how much they care about all of the components of the focaccia. The vegan focaccia was really delicious - each component was fantastic, you can really taste their attention to detail. It had 2 different sauces on it - one tasted like a sun-dried tomato spread and another was a tomato cashew spread. I would happily buy both in a jar or by the bucket, they're that good. Plus the vegetables were grilled to perfection. About the bread itself, I don't usually tolerate gluten well, but I actually didn't have a reaction from this bread which I suspect is because of the quality and the fermentation. I only ate about a quarter of it to be safe, but my husband enjoyed the rest of it. Loved it. I'll visit again when I'm in town. I only wish I would have been able to buy an antipasti plate pilled high with all of the veg and sauces on it. They were all so amazing! Great food and...
