Was so enamored of kata4 I went back for seconds.

The filet was perfect texture and perfect flavor and preparation. Quality of the cut was clearly top-tier.

The ceviche was INSANE. So good and perfect blend of edible flowers and clearly freshest fish possible, with just the right amount of citrus blended over everything to create a delectable searing effect around the fish.

I asked the waiter to pair white wine with the ceviche and some other fish we ordered, and a red with the filet. He chose masterfully. All through the meal I bounced from my wine glass to my plate and back, and every sip and every bite was balanced just right.

KATA.4 is a traditional local spot in San Sebastián 🌊🦪. You won’t really see tourists here – mostly locals enjoying their food and drinks. The atmosphere feels authentic and cozy.

⏳ The service is not the fastest, but it’s friendly and attentive once they get to you. Staff don’t speak much English, so it helps to know some Spanish (or just point to the menu 😉).

🍴 The food is simple but good. Nothing too fancy or “gourmet,” but tasty and fresh. A place where you feel like you’re sharing the same table spirit as the locals, not chasing fine dining trends.

Overall, it’s a spot worth visiting if you want to step away from the tourist path and get a more local San Sebastián...

A refreshing change to the other kinds of bars!

We popped in only for a drink and few snacks, especially the oysters.

It's a really lovely bar and quite different to the more local places - it's a little bit more modern and stylised, no vintage dark wood etc - think modern low lighting and marble.

It was nice to go somewhere like this for an hour or two!

We had some local white wine, oysters, a beautifully soft poached egg with potato which was incredible, and some ham croquettes.

All the food was incredible and there is quite an extensive menu, the service was wonderful as well.

I'd definitely go back, especially if you're looking for somewhere a little less casual...
