First the positives, this is a great spot for people watching, and the pintxos were good. But this place is badly let down by the lack of service. I'm not sure whether we got special treatment because we are tourists, but tourists help pay the staffs wages, pity they don't get that. We were constantly ignored, when we finally received an English menu, after realising nobody was going to take our order, we had to go and ask the waiters, who were standing around chatting to each other if one could actually take the order. We started to order entrees and were told bluntly the kitchen was closed. When queried about whether there was no food at all, the waiter mentioned pintxos at the bar. So we organised that. Then waited and waited for any waiter to come back and get us more drinks and take the food order... you get the picture. They were not busy, there was no apology for all the delays, not one smile, they all looked sulky. When our food finally arrived the squid was way too salty, and much of it was in one big clump - we weren't given knives, by this stage too weary to ask for anything else. We asked for the bill, you guessed it (we timed it out of interest), 30 minutes for this to arrive. So 2 hours for some pintxos and an entree - just as well we weren't in a hurry. We have had much better experiences in San Sebastian, I too think this place is over rated and they seriously need to sort...

This place is filled with both local and tourist clients, and understandably so because the food is yummy and prices are very reasonable. The gentlemen that work the bar are so friendly and checks in with you to see how everything is going. When you dine here, you feel like part of the community.
Their tortilla is delicious with a flavor profile on the sweeter side (from the sweetness of grilled onions). We also loved their gildas, and this thing that I saw others order. I have no idea what the name is but I asked for one just like it and it was really good! You can see a photo of it in my picture. It’s the long thing that looks like half a gilda on the top with tomatoes and something that looks like a piece of grilled chicken? 😅
Whatever it was, we loved it! The thing with a piece of grilled green pepper and anchovy on top is really good too. The ravioli is simple but quite memorable and the shrimp stick is very refreshing. The shrimps are sweet, tasted fresh, and went perfectly with the chopped onions on top.
We chose it as our last meal during our trip, and it was the perfect ending. Thank you Bar Antonio for...
Read moreWe visited San Sebastian for the first time this weekend. We decided to have lunch at Antonio's after reading the very good reviews. It was quite busy but we felt the wait for a table wouldbe worth. We ordered one plate of rice and prawns and one beer. The waiter brought two and we decided to keep it. The bill should have been €30, €24 for the rice and €6 for the two beers. When we finished, we went inside to pay. I went downstairs to the toilet and my husband paid. He tapped the card before looking at total- €46! I was back shortly and realised what happened. The cashier argued we had ordered two plates of rice and I showed the photo I had taken. The two plates of rice would have been €54 so it became evident he was scamming us. He apologised and gave €10 to my husband. He accepted, but in reality we should have been refunded €16. The food was too salty and when I tried to order a side, peppers from bar's menu I was told it wasn't possible because I'd have to order a main (but I had already ordered it). So, overall, it was disappointing and I dont recommend this venue to tourists. BEWARE OF THE SCAM TO TOURISTS! THEY OVERCHARGED US BY...
