We ate vegan which was easy as there were a few options amongst the fully vegetarian menu. The food was incredibly tasty and while the portion sizes didn't look that large, definitely left me feeling full and more than satisfied. We had a main and shared a desert between two of us. Bread and very tasty olives were also served as starters/ appetizers. Our waiter was incredibly friendly and had the perfect level of attentiveness. Probably best to reserve a table unless you don't mind sitting at the bar as there was only one small table left when we got there. There is an English menu and there is WiFi so you can use Google translate if needed. The restaurant is situated underground with stairs leading down to it. Don't let this put you off it is not too hot even on a very hot day and the food and atmosphere more than makes up for a lack of sunlight. I think this would be a problem for wheelchair users as there are only steps leading down to...

You must make a reservation to experience this wonderful place and food. We were very lucky to get a reservation for two people on the same day (we called in the morning). We got last two spots at the bar table. People are turned away if they do not have reservations. The restaurant is small. The owners take the service and the food preparation very seriously. You are their guest for the whole evening. You will not be rushed. You will be able to enjoy the whole menus if you want or choose to. The food is prepared from fresh ingredients after you order it. We could see it being made while we were sipping wine and snacking on the glazed spiced almonds (very tasty). The food there is delicious art meant to be enjoyed and savored. Everything we tried there was awesome. Make your choice and enjoy it. To finish - pistachio Ice crème is a must (is the best...

Highly recommend, especially if you want to try some vegetarian options! We discovered this gem on one of our evening walks and came back the 2nd day for lunch. We did not have a reservation but we were welcomed and offered a table, which was a very kind act because the restaurant was fully booked for the day. The food is delicious, bold flavours that pair together very well. We couldn’t decide if we liked more the carrots with baba ganoush or the giant beans with the artichokes that were equally tasty. What I appreciated was the good quality ingredients, the combination of flavours and the overall feel of being “at home”, enjoying honest food. We ordered the desserts and ended up sharing them because they were so good! If you are in San Sebastián try this wonderful place, off the beaten track and maybe try to reserve a table first to avoid any...

What an amazing lunch! I arrived at about 1:30 on a sunny Saturday, and I was the first person at the restaurant. I sat at the bar and ordered whatever the woman who was helping me thought was best, in terms of both food and wine. I ended up having a fresh and delicious fig, apple, escarole, and mozzarella salad, followed by a carrot dish that blew me away... carrots, pickled fennel, bread crumbs, and feta. It was out of this world. And the wines that I had were all excellent: a local txakoli, a rueda, and a garnacha. They all paired perfectly with my meal. The total cost was just over €35. I'll definitely be back often.

I only take the time to review if the place has truly impressed. If you are in Donostia and are veggie/vegan make sure you book as it is popular and busy (for good reason). The hosts are caring and helpful and they were able to help with the menu. The food was excellent, the Gazpacho was a highlight for me. If you are a vegan who travels and is a little fed up of the "burger and world food" vegan places then this gives an authentic Basque experience in a great setting. They have fantastic local Sidra too.
