Funicular Monte Igueldo — Attraction in San Sebastián

The first Patxi allows you to go up, the problem starts, when you want to go back, here a second Patxi stops you, and asks for the full ticket, it doesn't matter if you show him that you have paid the full price, he wants the ticket, so in the end, you must pay to going down...again!

Maybe those guys don't do it on purpose, and it is the consequence to carry 8 extra basque chromosomes

The view from the top is worth the journey - 5 stars The price is reasonable too €4 per person - 5 stars The staff service level is dreadful. Absolutely no consideration for those with any walking difficulties or the elderly. You are on your own. We accidentally entered the line from the exit gate. (which is the same place as the entry gate, just a different set of stairs) The ticket collector absolutely refused us entry and then insulted us for requesting he show some compassion for us elderly customers. We were made to climb back up the stairs, walk 20m and come back down the stairs on the correct side. And then he insulted us again, and his supervisor then threatened that he would make us walk down. Very poor service to spoil a good...

Old funicular rail and it shows. Very cheap. About 3.5 Euros return as of 2018. Peak season runs about every 20 minutes. Ends service early evening.

Lots of steps as you would expect and a basic queing system. Little or no seating. No facilities at lower station.

Ticket office only takes cash but there is a cashpoint next to it.

Get to the lower station by walking (a little way out of the main tourist areas) or take the bus. The red tourist bus stops there too.

At the top there is a kids fun fair / amusement park with rides. Most were closed when we were there. Possibly lunch time closing.

Bar was open and there was an air conditioned eatery too.
