Literally, the worst, most tasteless and bland, lamb vindaloo I've ever eaten, and I have eaten a lot of lamb vindaloos in my 46 years. The gravy was bland, only one potato chunk, poor quality, gristly meat, with no fresh chilli added even though I requested extra hot, and was far too oily. And not ghee. The garlic and coriander naan appeared to be pan-cooked and had almost no coriander apart from a few flakes of seemingly dired herb. On the plus side, the order was ready for collection when I arrived, but for a €20 dinner, this really, really missed the mark. I don't think my dog will even eat the leftovers.
UPDATE 30 MAY. So my dog did eat the leftovers, and the restaurant owner chef had kindly sent a message to offer to cook a replacement curry for me.
So today I went to claim that... but ended up having THE WORST customer service experience of my life. Without even being able to air my grievance in full to this couple, they incessantly interrupted and arrogantly argued with me at high volume in Spanish (and between themselves in another language), in front of several customers saying that I should have come at 6pm the following day, and concentrating on my 'one potato' comment. They both, quite literally, bombarded me with high-volume abuse and were completely unwilling to hear me, let alone reason with me to see it they could honour their offer of a 'real' replacement vindaloo so I could potentially change this comment and score. I felt like I was verbally forced out of the restaurant with a barrage of insults, interruptions, 4 negative feelings. Even when I attempted to pacify the situation, they were having none of it.
It's kinda interesting, coz this ordeal actually started about 5 years ago (I am an Ibiza resident for 10 years, curry lover and curry cook forever), and the same, EXTREMELY POOR CURRY (exact same order) experience happened with my last visit, culminating in a personal vow to not return. And I hadn't, until I pined for a curry recently and thought to give the restaurant another chance with this order... I should have listened to myself because I have only received an abundance of verbal abuse, disappointment and REALLY BAD VIBES & ATTITUDE IN RETURN.
And I'm not being a victim. I'm just a bloke, expressing (or was trying to) my opinion to them to rectify a poor experience... and so now to you, I say to to you..
AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.
Spend your money elsewhere without needing to risk the wrath of these owners if what they serve displeases you..
This is not just the worst curry, BUT THE WORST RESTAURANT out of HUNDREDS across the ENTIRE WORLD that I have visited and eaten at.
PIZZAMAN & THE BOO (neighbours to curry palace) are WAY more friendly and accommodating places to dine.
Which is where I'm writing from now, in one of my very few reviews as a precious timekeeper and a person who desires to resolve issues in person rather than online.ir elsewhere.
Thank You for...
Read moreAfter spending the last several years eating a curry with my daughter at a vast array of Indian restaurants in the UK. We thought we would try this on our way back to our hotel. Well what a massive dissapointment. Id say the worst curry I've ever had. And to see it has 4.5/5 as average review shocked me. I can only surmise that people are too hammered or too young to actually know what a good curry is.
To be positive. Service was quick. Tbh, too quick for the food for any quality time to be spent on it.
Ordering - it didn't start well. When ordering they had no chaat or puri on the starter menu. Only Indian I've ever been too or that hasn't had it. Then when ordering the main they had no Keema rice or Naan. First time ever in an Indian restaurant it's never been on menu.
The food - well what can I say. Very poor. Bland and tasteless.
Poppadoms we're fine. Yoghurt and Pickle were the worst I'd ever had.
We ordered a Korma, Madras hot just like they have in India. Done very badly. Managed to kill both the sweetness and the spice. Our so called nan wasn't a nan at all. It was a cheese and garlic flatbread. Which was also overcooked and tasteless.
Overall possibly the worst Indian I've ever had. I would not recommend...
Read moreWe always go for the local options wherever we are, however one night the desire for a curry overcame us, we had seen the sign as we drove past
So off we went feeling very "Brit" The venue doesn't look like much but is welcoming, I think if we had sat inside it may have been a bit more "Curry" but it was a warm evening so we sat outside
Attended to by a young man and his sister, Mum and dad were in the kitchen, very friendly welcome and the service quick despite it being busy, seated straight away, drink request was fulfilled quickly as was the food once we had decided . . .
Oh the food, the food, so good I had to say it twice Went for the easy option as it was our first time and we just wanted a curry and what a curry
When we left that night we promised we would return and we have, it has only got better as we have now attempted more of the menu and the youngsters have go to remember us, so much for going native where this place is concerned
It still feels a little "Brit" to not be eating local food but it is so worth it
Definitely worth a visit
