I recently visited Zanzibar and had an extremely disappointing experience. The food quality was far below standard and not as advertised. We ordered a smashed burger that was anything but smashed, and the tacos were of very poor quality. The food was inedible, and we had no choice but to return it.
What made the experience even worse was the way we were treated by a staff member named Kate. She was the rudest person I’ve ever encountered in a customer service role. Instead of addressing our concerns, she argued with us, insisting that it was our own personal taste preference and claimed they had never received complaints before. A quick look on Google confirms this is a lie.
Kate proceeded to personally attack us, saying, "we must have lived a good life" if this was the worst food we've ever tasted. She then told us there was nothing she could do and walked off, showcasing what they consider "excellent customer service."
I strongly advise others to avoid this restaurant. The combination of subpar food and atrocious customer service made for a thoroughly unpleasant...
Read moreNo prices on menu. Alarm bells should ring when this is the case. We were looking for somewhere with a nice atmosphere and landed here for casual drink. Service time was good to be fair but you’re going in blind when no prices on menu. We had two cocktails and bill was €36. We’re used to high prices (from Dublin) but that is excessive and just sneaky. As soon as bill lands, while you’re trying to analyze it, they then got you with a request for a tip. No issue with tipping but when prices are excessive and not warranted for a location a such a standard, you feel aggrieved. We have a tip but I’m regretting it now. Recommend you ask for the price first. Why they cannot just put prices on menu, no other reason than essentially scamming tourists. A table beside us ordered food and as soon as they received food, we’re asked to settle the bill. Table asked if they could eat first or at least half their meal, advised no and that bill needs to be settled first. Just seems strange. Would not recommend unfortunately and purely just down to no...
Read moreDO NOT RECOMMEND Terrible experience – unacceptable staff behavior
I had one of the worst experiences at Zanzibar Bar in Ibiza. I asked a staff member for directions to the bathroom, and instead of helping, he deliberately misled me by pointing me toward a storage room and told me to push the door hard. It was not only confusing but also felt extremely uncomfortable and inappropriate.
Only after noticing the sign myself did I realize it was not the toilet. The way he acted, laughing and clearly making a joke out of it, was completely unprofessional. It honestly left me feeling really unsafe and humiliated.
This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable, especially from a member of the kitchen/backroom staff, who should have no reason to treat customers this way. I hope the management takes this seriously and ensures their staff show basic respect.
I will absolutely not be returning and would warn others to be cautious when visiting. There are plenty of better venues in Ibiza that know how to treat...
